i can see that, at first I was pissed I wasn't getting the push button, but the more I thought about it, the happier I am with out the electronics, I just wished I had the ability to open the door with out using the key or unlock button.

Originally not Expo AF! Kinda Expo AF now...lame.
Because the space on the left side where the foot brake on my 2nd gen was is now free to install my brake controller. That's actually why I like the hand brake.

As a manual driver (though not in a taco yet) the hand operated brake is much for useful then a foot operated one. When on a steep hill you can set and release the hand brake when both of you feet are busy doing other things.

That same thing is true with the foot operated brake that Toyota uses on these trucks. You set the brake with your foot, but you release it with your hand by manipulating a pull-rod under the steering wheel area of the console. It's still possible to half-clutch while the brake is engaged and then release it with your hand.

Honestly, I'm indifferent towards where they put it. I didn't mind the old style in my 1st gen and I don't mind the new style in my 3rd.

So would I... But to some people/folks, they just see a bunch of springs and levers when they finally figure out how to remove the drum itself.

I like my truck the way it is! Best looking truck on the road! Seats are fine for me, brakes work perfect! No rear end howling in my truck and I could care less about a light in the glove box! BUT the transmission is aggravating shift up and down too much and the gas mileage is no where near what Toyota claims! Other than that, my truck is fine!

Ahh I see. I had assumed (yeah I know) that they were those stupid type that you have to push again to release. never driven a 2nd gen.

One overlooked difference between drums and disks... disk brakes drag, always. If you ever turned the front wheel of a car/truck with drums vrs disks you know what I mean. The difference isn't huge but it does rob mpg and when little things make a difference (like size and shape of mirrors) every little bit helps.

I don't get it when folks complain that Toyota is not listening to their customers.... this is my first Toyota, so I'm no fan boy. That said, I am very impressed with their release of the transmission TSB, which successfully addressed the #1 complaint for me (and TW, I think). This TSB was issued within 1 year of the trucks release, which seems damn good considering all the R&D and regulation and shit they have to go through to issue a TSB.

    Just my opinion, man.

Now, back to suggested improvements for my badass truck, because we can always improve:

    1- remote start
    2- adjustable seats
    3- hybrid engine/better MPGs
    4- leather options
    5- driver side grab handle
6- mud mats that don't shift around (c'mon, puts some anchors on them like the driver's mat)
7- Car Play/Android dash system.... Entune barely gets a "C" grade.
    8- Auto lock on tailgate
9- Larger wheel wells to accommodate larger tires
10- Flame decals for the body... chicks dig flame decals.

It just turned into a $47k Tacoma.....
I'm a first time Toyota owner also, I don't know anything about Tacomas.

    1. A folding key at least (for MT version)
    2. Better aero for better highway MPG (I get better mpg in town). Make it competitive with the Colorado gasser in terms of MPG.
    3. Option to get weather and traffic through phone data (where HD radio signal is weak)
    4. Same rear end ratio (3.91) for manual as for auto, but need a lower reverse gear in the MT to accommodate. The MT is geared low and pulls 6th easily at 50+mph
    5. No fake hood scoop. Make it functional or get rid.

Only owned if for a week, so that's about it so far.

No I like the gearing for the manual, works good for me.

Point being, for everything someone says it needs, there is some one who doesn't want it. So who does yota listen to?

#5, designed specifically for people who hit pedestrians, the 10-12" gap is known as the pedestrian crumple zone said to cause less damage during low impact collisions... So they say! I personally like having all the space for led lights/winch setups. Train horns! The list goes on.

They could differentiate the models a little more, I personally could care less what kind of brakes they have as long as I stop when using them. I also know the power seats are like religion here. But why can't the Limited have disc brakes and power seats? Leave the OR closer to what it is. The Sport should fall somewhere in between. These should at least be options.
