they undoubtedly would do/did it to save money. EVERY company that produces mass quantity is looking to maximize profit. Thats business 101. Even Toyota.
But in their defense, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Personally like the ebrake where it is bc it becomes very handy when off roading so I don't have to constantly double peddle.

I would ask them to just stick a 4.10 diff instead of the 3.93 that isnt fooling anyone.

That's what bumpers are for. Lights, winches, antennae, etc etc. Even ARB had to Frankenstein their bumper to get it to fit.

You just read too much into it brother, it is cheaper for them to use drums, it is that simple. We can say add rear discs as an option to the list then customers can choose.

Not me, I live in the midwest. We don't really have any areas to do any offroading, plus I have a flat fender jeep if I really want to do that stuff. I need 4wd for snow and such. It seems like the sport could have the better Aero bits while the offroad could continue with its focus on offroading. Ironically, the Sport has the fake hood scoop which probably doesn't help aero .

Nice thing about air dams and the like is that you can still pull them off temporarily if you want to get dirty!

Heartily agree. There are certainly more people towing things with a Tacoma then there are people getting stuck in deep sand pits every day despite it being #22 on the list of priorities. And the front will still make that awful sound - why only solve half the problem? Because bullshit is bullshit. Drums are much, much cheaper to fit and especially so on the end of the truck with the e-brake. Bean counters made that decision.

But, drums work just fine and are accounted for in the tow rating so... who cares? Not I.

I'd like to see this truck with some better headlights. Where I live it's really dark at night. I find that I'm constantly switching back and forth between lows and highs. This is not a problem when driving one of my others vehicles equipped with HID's.

I'd like a more drivable truck. Meaning more power. Gas mileage already sucks, may as well have the power to go with it. This truck can even break the tires lose in the rain!

And maybe a radio that's in arms reach. I have to lead forward to touch the screen. I'm sure some of you bigger guys don't have this problem. At 5'7", I do.

Yeah I'm not too bothered so long as my truck stops haha. I was also told by the Tacoma dealership that the reason the seats are not height adjustable was because that would create more moving parts that would rattle when you go off road. That may be true eventually, but that's also a cost savings measure.

Those are the main detractors of the Tacoma, in my eyes. I have only read about the transmission issues (because I haven't driven a 3rd Gen) but I can say from my time in a 2nd Gen that the seats need to be adjustable for me to buy one. For the price the Tacoma commands, it should have some things that it doesn't.

One wants this the other wants that. I would hate to see the price of the Tacoma if we all got everything we wanted. I for one think as a whole at least with the Tech package is a pretty nice truck as is. Yes it doesn't have everything but do we need ever modern up to date things on our trucks. I have seen a lot of people on here complain of the trucks price in its present state, so do we want more so the price of the truck gets so high that some of us can no longer afford it. I for one don't need everything. Hell I have the tech package and dont even use all its got to offer for instance the sunroof.

Do you need to know, or care?
I agree with this. Compared to my Gen 2 Limited, this one has far more options and wasn't all that more expensive, all things considered.

Saying that, there are a few things I would consider. Automatic wipers, I live in a rainy place and the auto ones in the wife's car work flawlessly. More adjustments to the seats, specifically height adjustment. 360 degree camera, seems to be a lot more common in other makers. I'd also like to see adaptive cruise control.

There is a "Seat Belt" Mike video out there where he is talking about Turd Gen design. He clearly states they designed the third gen to be best overall at class for at least 5 years compared to their competition.

Side Rant: Not sure how he can make that statement without knowing what GM/Ford/Nissan.... will come out with before 2021 but he's Seat Belt Mike so his word counts for sh!t in my opinion. Bit of history - Seat Belt Mike also said in a video that nothing is the same between the 3rd gen and the 2nd gen aside from the seat belt buckle. Considering the slew of problems carried over from the 2nd gen to the 3rd gen like howling windshields and barn door squeaking clutches (to name a few) I'll call him completely either incompetent/ignorant or a liar with confidence.

Back to the subject of the thread. That means no changes to the truck until 2021 aside from perhaps cosmetic changes or standard changes across all models.

For example, Toyota Canada said by the end of 2017 almost all vehicles in their line will have Toyota Safety Sense packages as standard equipment.

    https://www.toyota.ca/toyota/en/about/news/lexus-and-toyota-will-make-automated-braking-standard

What I'm saying, don't expect Toyota to be making any changes to this truck anytime soon.

I am sure that there are plenty of good ideas to improve this truck. However, first, I would just rather get the truck to work as it should.
The whole drive line is a problem, A/T with issues, vibrations (unknown cause) & rear ends that are making noise, grinding & being replace with no improvement.
The gas consumption is way off from the estimate.

I like Toyota, I own 3 Toyota trucks, but my 2016 TRD OR is suffering of some of this issues widely reported in TW

I disagree with This truck can even break the tires lose in the rain! shut off the stupid traction control and what not, get on the gas and it will spin the tires. I just did it in dry weather yesterday and got folks looking at me as I took off from the stop sign. Must be my over powered manual trans.
