Hello, I have a quick question I need answered.

Are there any major problems with 2004 Tacoma's? Im going to look at a 2004 Tacoma, regular cab, 4x4, 2.7l, standard trans. Tote the note lot wants 10,900. Its got 117,000 miles on it.

I did a quick look at it on the way home from work today while no one was around. I didn't see any fluids leaking underneath it, and the front susp looks to be in decent shape. Seems like people have nothing but good to say about these trucks so Im excited to drive it when I talk to the salesman in 2 days.

I looked for a few threads on the 2.7l engine and I ran across a concern about piston slap on cold starts. Ive been a mechanic for 11 years now and rebuilding a 4cyl engine wouldnt be that big of a deal, but I dont want to do it.

Is there any advice you guys could give me as to what I should be looking for on this truck? I dont know the usual bugs with these things, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Check for rust, be prepared to replace the suspension and spend lot sof money on it.

Awesome thanks y'all! The frame and front end seem to be in pretty good condition. I bought it last night and put it on a lift today and found absolutely nothing wrong with it. Its got bilstein coilovers on the front.
