I dont see why they would not work. It looks just a little bitter than the other waterport in the customer pictures.

That is pretty sweet! My mounts are made from aluminum and for a tire carrier im sure they will have to be welded and that aint cheap! So for now im trying to stick to just cutting and bending at the moment.

I have talked about creating mounts that require welding but that i a little further down the road.

Tire mounts on the bed rails are a great way to crack the metal part of your bedsides, there have been a few instances of that happening.

yeah i would imagine that you would need to spread that stress out as much as possible to prevent that. Also it would really depend on how big of a tire you are running...
I think that the chase car spare tire carriers are the way to go. I like that they also carry a hydraulic jack, and you can see out the back window.

Total Chaos had one in the back of their truck at Jambo this year and it was pretty nice.

Issues could be due to specific manufactures or user error.

Drop bracket lift and booger welds
Not with the new setup, but it's not a typical setup and on a first gen so our bed rails are different. The main bolt holding the tire in place goes to a nut that is welded to a piece of 3/16 that was then welded to the back side of the rail lip. A locking nut goes on the other side of the rail and another locking nut goes by the lug hole as well. And even with all that' it's strapped down with two massive rings. Kinda ghetto but beefy enough to survive the shit I've put it through. Thought I had pics but apparently I don't.

Yea, I wonder how the new Wilco TireCarrier will hold up... or how many people will start cracking and tearing their beds from it...

I have three points of attachment (bed tie downs and then on the bed rail) when I ran my tire at Jambo, but that is the only time I will run my tire up on the bed like that.

    Yeah, don't do that.

That was the start of it. I needed a toolbox, tire carrier, and leftover space for gear. Can't do that with the stock bed.

Mount a tire holder on the bed rail, look through the thread I posted, it's shows what happened to @SMKYTXN bed
