Same here when it comes to mounting stuff on the bed. Would rather mount it there than mount to the bed directly and risk cracking it something in the long run.

I would like to do that also, however i do not have access to the rails on the side, my tri flip bed cover uses the rails to mount the bed cover rails. I can access the ones near the cab... So i am stuck with alternative options.

Also the pre fabricated high lift mounts that attach to the bed rails are way more expensive. And then what about the quick fists?? That shouldnt be enough weight to crack the sides.

Just depends on what you mount to it. It could work, but I would try and distribute the weight around the holes or use some big washers on both sides of the hole to help out ?

It's not about weight but vibration, it will slowly degrade the bed if not properly secured and isolated. You would need rubber washers and proper weight distribution.

Yeah i will grab washers for both sides on all screws. It looks like there are 4 so i should be good. Hopefully! haha. I will let you know if anything breaks.
Thanks man! Are you one the DFW BS thread? We have some meetups coming up soon. And people usually post when they go wheeling.

Not sure how i am going to figure out the weight distribution. The rattle maybe an issue. Large rubber and metal washers should do the trick right??

I'm down in the Austin area, but I travel to the coast and up north because the camping/wheeling is much better Lol. I usually hit up Texoma once a year. Infact I think my picture icon was taken at Texoma.

Oh nice! Yeah i liked the beach trip. It was crazy windy and i learned about burring anchors in the sand to keep your shit from flying away! haha. I will definitely be doing that again though! Texoma is fun also! Spring time up there should be some fun fishing! I should do some research and find out what colors are best for fishing up there.

If you like bass fishing... Lake Fork is super popular and known for its huge bass. But there are a shit load or trees and brush in that lake so expect to get hung up and lose lures if you go.

That is the truth! Lol. We went last fall and the wind was ridiculous! Your at N. Padre island? I woke being the only thing holding my tent down LOL. Slept in the Taco the next night.

I'll have to check out Lake Fork, any parks around it you've been to? I come to expect a gross amount of tree fish when I go fishing down here so that isn't anything new.

I would set it up in the following configuration:
Nut, lock washer, thick fender washer/flat bar, 1/8" thick rubber same diameter as washer, composite bed, rubber, fender washer. You want to make sure any pressure against the bed is spread out as opposed to concentrating it on a small part.

    Nice!! Thanks!

I will get the largest washers i can fit for sure. Or maybe 2 long flat bars, or a small plate that i can mount to.. I will have to see what i can find and then go from there. Lock washers and some rubber for sure though!

And wear a mask while you drill holes in the bed, you'll regret breathing in any dust from it.
