Just finished my HID Retrofit. Parts are from the last group buy with the retrofit source. FX-R stage IV kit. Denso Slim Balast, MC-R Shroud, CCFL and LED's. Started the project on monday evening after work and worked on it about 3 hours a day and finished tonight (Friday) at about 7PM. the rain kept me from being able to complete my final alignment. Overall the experience was not complicated and i plan on doing this again to the spare headlights i have.

it is a huge step up from stock. i have not adjusted the height yet but the width I have now is amazing. And i noticed my fog lights are almost useless now as well.

i used #10 bolts 2.5 inches long and cut them down. 2 inch would probably work. i only sealed the wires where they come through the housing and not on the reflector.

this looks much different than the other fxr retros ive seen on this site. Other folks cut a large round hole in the back of their reflector to get the projector to seat down far enough.

I have the fxr's and i don't see how you got them to sit back far enough in that size hole. i had to cut about a 3in hole for mine.

I'm looking to get the FXR stage IV kit. How much of a pita was the install? I've never done a retrofit before, but I'm okay with modifying things. What supplies did you need that wasn't included in the kit? special tools(i.e. dremel, holesaw, etc)?

I'm guessing you probably already know that this group buy is going on, but just in case:

What's the difference between the Stage-III and Stage-IV?
Looks like it's just the ballast supplier?

Spatch - Im full aware of that group buy, but i want to educate myself first as the stage IV kit looks to be pretty tedious for installation. Id probably purchase another set of headlights just in case i screw up the other ones.

Seems that the stage-3 and 4 are comparable installations.

The mini units mount in place of the OEM lamps... and as mentioned above, "everyone" seems to upgrade to the FX-R later.

Just buy a spare set of headlights (they show in the marketplace all the time) so you aren't pressured to complete the job.
If it takes a month, it takes a month.

Rich - thanks for the tips. I have a 2012 so i would think the marketplace wouldnt have too mamy headlights for sale just yet. But i'll definitely keep my eye out in the marketplace. Are the FXRs so bad ass that people eventually find iut the minis arent enough?
