Installed today. Nice product, although I'm not crazy about how it doesn't taper with the floor molding, showing exposed metal. Since it's black on black it doesn't bother me too much, but if I had a different color truck I'd probably be more upset.

It's pretty amazing how shitty those stock "stickers" were. I had bought my truck pre-owned, and on the drivers side there was about a 4" strip of bare metal showing. The guy that used the truck previous must have worn cleats or something. So I had to prep and paint that before putting these on. Fully protected now.

Install was easy. Hardest part was getting all the glue residue off. And the adhesive strips on these G Tek's are no joke. Take your time positioning them on. You get one shot at it.

Not sure what you mean about the tapering issue, can you send over a pic?

    Edited my photo.

It's flush against the molding towards the front, but the gap get's larger towards the rear. It's the same on the passenger side as well.

Not the end of the world.

Still no pic, all I see is part of an image code.

I think I know what you mean though, I've heard some have that uneven little gap and some don't. There isn't much I can do about it unless I make a custom set for each order which isn't a very practice idea. In the design faze we talked about making them deep enough to slide under the plastic piece but it was voted against.

If you're not happy I have no problem exchanging for a full refund.

Sorry about that. I was trying to use OneDrive to host the photo. Guess it wasn't working....

I appreciate the offer for a refund, but I'll keep them. It's odd that some have it and some don't though. When you press against the molding there is some definite give there, so I think you could probably get away with making them a couple mm wider - press it up tight against the molding and lessen the chance for gaps.

I can't imagine trying to tuck these underneath the molding though, so I think you made the right decision there.

I just received mine and have the exact same issue. On my quad cab I have a 1/4" gap in the right rear, taper on the right front and left rear and flush fitment on the drivers door which is used the most.

My one suggestion would be to delete the tape on the over hang and replace it with a thin strip of felt. The two top rows are more than enough to hold the sill in place and this would allow for the sill to lay closer to the cab making for a much more clean and flush install.

Overall I am happy because they will serve the intended purpose and I realize they can't be built for each truck as the plastic moldings are not straight and consistent from the factory.

That's unfortunate. Like I was saying though, if you press against that floor molding it's not very solid, so I would imagine all of this variation is more due to the sections of plastic molding than the sill protectors themselves.

That's not a bad idea about the tape - that stuff is fairly thick. I'd be willing to try it. What's the tape called, and where could I get more?

Yes I would agree on that, maybe if they were just a 1/4" wider we could press them into place for a nice flush fitment. Worth looking into for sure.

I know that is 3M tape. The good one as indicated by the red plastic covering.

Got mine installed....I don't mind the little variation in the gap. I've had my truck for a little over a month and already noticed scratches...these are great.

Ok after looking at this pic closely I can see why there's a tiny gap at one end. If you look close at the placement at the bottom of the pic you can see the DSP isn't pushed back all the way thus leaving the tiny gap against the plastic sill and leaving a gap at the edge of the sill.

This is the reason for wetting the single vertical VHB strip on the roll over edge. It allows the installer to place the DSP exactly where it should go.

If you use a heat gun on low or a blow dryer to heat up the entire DSP you should be able to push the DSP back into place.

Maybe. I did wet the outside strip and used a rubber mallet to pound the DSP as tight as I could get it. I feel like the majority of that space is due to the thickness of the strip itself.
