G-Tek Fab Door Sill Protectors 2nd & 3rd gen

Yeah once I looked on my computer instead of my phone I did notice that, nothing but positive reviews also !!

 

When I made the prototype set for my DC Tundra back in 2007 I made them too long. I decided to change them to a diamond plate version one day and when I removed them I noticed the edges were digging into the paint at the ends. I definitely did not want this to happen to anyone who purchased them. So for this reason these are designed to sit on the flat surface only.

Supplies are dwindling but I’m picking up more from powder coat today.

 

So I finally had the double sided tape fail on my @G Tek Fab sil armor, on the driver side.

These things keep the sil in so much better condition its amazing!

There is only light scratching from the grey plastic trim piece trapping some sand and small stones sand under it, the entire sil is still in perfect condition where the sil armor covers. I thought I would have to repaint the sil's again when I replaced the double sided tape. I am impressed.



These not only look great, the long term protection is impressive.

 

How long have they been on the truck? The VHB I use should never fail, maybe you didn’t clean the sill all the way before installing. If there is one tiny spot that’s not tacked down dirt or moisture can get under it and begin the fail process.

You can not blame the tape good sir! Trust me I cleaned the surface perfectly before application.

They stuck for 2 years almost. We get -45C winter conditions where I live. For extended periods, I was surprised they didnt come off last winter.

It was snow wheeling that did it this year. I got in and out of the truck so much on that wheeling trip that snow had worked its way under the armor a bit. It melted, re-froze and that was it.

 

Extreme cold weather may have an effect although I use the same stuff that holds emblems and some trim on vehicles. Very surprised. Thanks for the report for sure!

Ok so I’ve been out of commission for the past week due to the first of two ear canal surgeries. It’s seems as though all my surfing and water sports have given me a nasty case of surfers ear in both canals. Lots of pain during recovery for sure but I’ll be back ready to start shipping again first thing next week.
