G3 - Fuse / Circuit Identification for Electrical Projects (Cam & Ham)

Hey Lads and Lassies!

You have been a tremendous help so I thought I'd ask.


I'm doing the final DC Electrical work on a Ham Radio (50W) and a Dash Cam (Viofo).
I need to identify the following circuits.

CAMERA:
1. On all the time for Parking Mode
2. On with ignition for Normal Driving Around

Ham Radio
1. PREFERRED - On with ignition but off on delay after ignition off. Do we have that? My ranger had TONS that could be set to 5 / 15 / 30 minute delay. Would be nice to keep the radio on and monitoring while I'm outside of the truck.
2. OPTIONAL 1 - On all of the time
3. OPTIONAL 2 - On with Ignition but not the same one that's occupied with the camera.

The radio obviously pulls significantly more wattage than the cam does so if possible a "beefier" higher amperage circuit would be preferred. I know.... Nothing is as good as a second battery set up and running shielded jumper cable wire to your radio, but if you are an Amateur Radio operator then you already understand that "everything is a compromise" and you deal with it. This is my deal with it.

I should add to clarify - this is all via the interior fuse panel. I prefer not to have to go through the firewall.

You’re not really sharing the circuits, just the fuse slots so for power applications just share with lower amp fuses. You should limit the total current in a shared slot. I prefer not to exceed 30A total since that’s the highest amp oem fuse in my panel. For low current triggers any fuse slot that is hot when you need it will do. Door locks are always hot, you’ll probably need always hot for the radio as well and supply your own off timer relay triggered by an ignition hot circuit.

 

LOL - Opened the manual to page 455 to see the fuse layout and diagram and all it says is, here is your fuse panel, if they blow, replace them. Meanwhile further back it has three pages to tell you how to adjust the motorized drivers seat. I think we all know how to adjust the drivers seat, Toyota...

 

I thought once dealership set the drivers seat position you just left it. Bring it in for service if you need to move it.

Oddly enough, I couldn't find it searching Tacoma World but Google brought me to it. Strange!

Anyway - I put the taps in the two empty slots. The #17 on the bottom left side is always hot and the #6 on the right is switched only. I did mine bass-ackwards and now I need to go out and flip them around.
Since I don't have a sunroof (left #13), I'm planning to run the Ham Radio out of that one when I get a fuse tap for it. Should be pretty easy and straight forward.



I'm surprised it only takes 8.5 Amps on full transmit. I'll stick a 10 amp fuse on it and rock on.

 

Starting to wonder if the always on is always on. Time to put a meter on it.

 

Empty slots on my ‘14 are dead. They may be individually wired on the hot side.
