About to pull the trigger on the following

    ADS 2.5 Fronts With Resi
    ADS 2.5 Piggyback Rears

going extended travel, but keeping it at about 2-2.5” of lift. Picking up the icon AAL from iKonik.

Plan to add UCAs later. Think I’ll be fine?

I would say going ext travel period warrants needing uca’s as soon as possible. If I was dropping that much save a bit more and take it easy for a couple months and get them. Or do it all at the same time would be easier as well

I think I’ve decided on icon Billet UCAs which are crazy money, so I’ll have to wait. I guess I can get them in the group buy and wait to install

You can absolutely run stock UCA with extended travel. Is it ideal? No. The stock UCA will simply limit the travel as it will contact the spring due to the extra travel the shock will have vs the standard travel. This can easily be mitigated by not utilizing all the travel until you swap to aftermarket UCA.

Long story short. Jump on the group buy if thats the kit you know you want. Hold off on the install until you can get the aftermarket UCA you want. If the urge to install becomes too much to resist before you get the new UCA, install away.

While I’m here. Might as well show the 3rd gens replacement

The 6spd was fun for a while, but as much as I’m driving it got old pretty fast. And the power band of that 3.5 just wasn’t helping. I will miss the inferno though

Don't overlook JBA UCA's. Crazy good deal for what they offer. https://jbaoffroad.com/jba-std-high...plus-4runner-03-plus-fj-cruisers-07-plus.html

The travel numbers are very impressive, all but guaranteed 3* Caster, and they're substantially cheaper than the Icons. I believe @BadgerBoy runs them.

Yes sir, only thing you gotta watch is backspacing on wider tires, as long as you have more than 0 offset you will be fine...like a -10 on an 8" wide wheel. But yea they have been great no problems for 20k

Not only will you be fine, but all of us will be jealous!

He should be ok. What @backcountryj said....

Seriously though, he is going to be on the cusp at 2.5". The UCAs will definitely help and make an improvement. Once he starts moving closer to 3" is when the UCAs become a necessity (from everything I've read. no first hand experience....yet).

When you do get to that point, I would consider the JBA over the SPC/Light Racing. Too many mixed reviews on the SPCs. I heard they redesigned the UBJ, but then I hear others who recently purchased and installed and have problems within a week. I've heard enough of the bad reviews to stay away from them personally. If you're looking at spending the money on Icon Billet UCAs, why not look at the Total Chaos? Those seem to be the gold standard...

Since we're on the suspension subject....

I've been thinking about balling out (buy once cry once) on some King's or ADS extended(mid) travel all around... Would my current SPC UCA's be sufficient to clear 2.5 extended travel shocks up front? Would there be any issue running this setup with stock LCA's? Also, does anyone know what kind of warranty ADS holds? I know King's hold a 90 day warranty...

Is there a group buy going on for these?
Or am I misinterpreting what people are referring to?

Petty sure you will be fine with the UCAs you have. Stock would also work, but would likely hit the spring on extreme droop. No idea on the other questions.

Idk what route @grant318is is going to acquire his, but there is a group buy going on for ADS / Kings currently. Discounts aren't posted but i read someone got roughly $700 off their setup.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/ads-vs-king-group-buy.634937/

I've got about 3k from selling the Volk's off my old car that I'm thinking would be a great investment into a nice suspension upgrade... or i could be smart and save it ugh the struggle.

Don't forget to factor in the cost of maintenance on King's every 30k - 50k miles. @BYJOSHCOOK would be able to give more feedback on that, but Kings are service-required performance shocks.

When I was in the market for suspension I continuously saw ADS being compared to Fox/Kings. The number one reason I went with King’s is due to the overwhelming information available on all aspects of the shock (materials, engineering, valving etc.) It seemed that those who have ADS are too busy out enjoying them, instead of posting up reviews and thoughts online for others to qualify as a contender. Hopefully some of you end up buying them and give some good honest feedback after putting them through their paces.
