Turds are awesome! My Inferno one would make my 5th Yota 4x4 I've owned in my lifetime. My father has a 2017 sport and my mom drives a Lexus, so we're a Toyota family!

Alright guys so having a little trans issue...

2013 Tacoma TRD OR 4x4 with a TRD supercharged 4.0 with AFE CAI dry filter. TRD tune to support SC. Installed Ratiotek HD kit 20k miles ago with no issues. Stock gearing with 265 75 16, will be putting 285 75 16 on next week. Fluid level is on point, went with the valvoline fluid vs the OEM when i did the RT kit.

With the cooler weather, I have recently noticed that i have a bad 4-5 flare. It also likes to sit in 4th gear for a while before attempting to go into 5th, and when it finally does shift, it flares. RPM's will shoot up before going into 5th. It is only really on the FIRST 4-5 shift after starting the truck up from sitting all night, and is more noticeable with cooler temps. Once its gotten past the first 4-5 shift, it shifts into 5th after that with almost no issue. Cleaning MAF has no effect, havent touched TB in a while though.

If i throw the shifter in 4 then to D when it hangs in 4th and doesnt want to shift to 5th, it will shift into 5th almost instantly. This makes me think it may be an electronic issue. Have done some searching but haven't found anyone with exactly the issue I've had yet.

I was going to start with a trans fluid drain and fill or two and go from there, but didn't know if there was something else i should be looking at.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

I wasn't giving them the free days. They already screw us with only 5 vacation days a year.

Damn about to jump on that. I'll have to add more wrenches to it tho

If you see a little white square nailed onto a tree STOP! And look for a bypass somewhere. Ask me how I know :anonymous:

If I can get the truck fixed I could be in. But I may be doing some more preventativce maintenance so I can drive it without worry. So I can start to rip apart my Supra for some upgrades :burnrubber:

I think the majority of people with finish issues are up north where they are subjected to all kinds of DOT chemicals on the road. I expect us in the south will get many years of use without the finish deteriorating.

I opted for the tune, I figured since the option was available I might as well go for it. I didn’t opt for the adjusters up front though. Since the weight won’t fluctuate I figured a custom tune would be sufficient for set it and forget it mentality. Can’t wait to hear about the difference in feedback once you get a few miles on them. Describing the difference is challenging but extremely noticeable.

If anyone needs radio (CB/Ham/etc) parts, cables, antennas: I came across this retailer when ordering a cable for my MESO third brake light. They ship from Blairsville so most of Georgia is only a day shipping. I placed the order Saturday, it shipped yesterday, and will get to me today! They have a lot of the more specialty stuff you won't find on Amazon, and were able to assemble to cable with the connector I needed. https://www.theantennafarm.com/catalog/

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!

That’s a WS fluid trans right? If so, I’d go back to using the factory WS. Drain and refill 2 or so times and see if anything changes.

That's a good one! We see rattlers here all the time when backpacking through the woods, but that one is exceptional!
