Reasoning? I’ve heard a little bit from the forums about turd gen powertrain complaints, but curious as to your thoughts?

Fair enough it’s a far drive from Atlanta too but seemed too cheap. I’ve been hawking rims for a while now and those usually are gone off FB within a day or so for 1k ish which seems crazy to me (obviously I’m still flossin some throwback chrome OEM blades....but they clean though). If I’m dropping that might as well get something custom I really like.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!

I love my Ruger American 270 for hunting and it’s not heavy at all/was cheap enough I didn’t have to buy one rifle for the all. Found a sweet deal at adventure outdoors with a nice Nikon a couple years ago. FWIW

It’s just an idea more than anything at this point. And it wouldn’t occur due to distaste for my turd. I’ve actually grown quite fond of it.

Just thinking of moving the wife to a new 4Runner.

Building an AR isn't hard at all and you can build something with super quality parts for pretty cheap if you're willing to shop around and wait for deals. If you didn't need to buy a gun right now, I'd advise anyone not to b/c everything is so expensive right now. I guess if you're buying new it's the same price today as it will be in half a year so that might not be an issue as long as you can find it in stock.
Best of luck with your path. And also BCM is quality stuff.

Good to know. I always wondered about those. They have a really good price point, so I've wondered how people like them (or not).

This. There is no such thing as a 1 and done gun purchase. There is only a first before many.

Agree and I’m looking at building one. I could wait but who knows after November might be even worse.... ammo looks liken might be an issue too we’ll see. Good point though I'll start sourcing some parts and watching for deals.

i've bought many parts 2nd hand off ar15.com's Equipment Exchange setion and theoutdoorstrader.com which is local to GA. Both have a seller rating system so I feel confident dealing with people on these sites with good feedback. But buying on the private market (even parts) during these times isn't great b/c of inflated prices. But just make a list of what you want and watch the ad get posted as they are posted 24/7 so theres always new stuff. Good luck and happy hunting!

Thanks good info I’m meeting some guys up at the range I’ve been talking to about some parts too. They aren’t as interested in making profit as they are sharing knowledge and helping people explore more shooting hobby disciplines. Sounds like there’s a lot of enthusiasts here, every get together for gun shoots? I always missed it but have friends that take the bourbon trail pilgrimage to knob creek shoot. Guess that covid ruined that too but it was on my list to do soon.

We've had some talk about trying to get a shoot together on here but hasn't been able to get ironed out completely. Well when you get your parts together if you go the build route and need some help let us know. I've built a few AR's from the ground up. I'm no expert by any means but always willing to help if I can.
