I defiantly think a spare tire is in your future. Not trying to be a shit head either!

Anybody got a 17 inch spare rim they’re trying to get rid of?

There are 3 spare rims recently discussed in the Southeast yard sale thread. At least one is a 16 and no size was given on the other two.

Need pics of the tire. I always wondered about those Federal Couragia MT (assuming that's what you had) tires...so any more info on how it tore and what you were doing would be helpful.

    Will check out shortly!
But I think the biggest mistake was I didn’t air down AND I didn’t have a spotter with me BUT i went over a decent sized rock with no problem but when I slid down it punctured the side wall 3519D489-3A38-4C6F-8ABE-2934BE9FB5E2.jpg

    Dayum!

I'm conflicted on how to feel about that. I mean...not airing down shouldn't (or at least I wouldn't think) cause tire failure like that, but maybe I'm just inexperienced with sharp rocks. Maybe those with more experience can chime in. Is that user error or cheap tire error (or combo)?

I’ll put a strong vote for cheap tire. I don’t see this failure being caused by an inflation issue. This coming from someone that doesn't wheel :notsure:

Big boy talk time. Don't buy cheap tires. They’re the only thing that connects you to the road. Do yourself, your passengers, and your fellow drivers a favor. Buy quality tires. (comments not directed at @CowboyTaco )

Its hard to say. I'd like to think it comes down more to the tire ply (C, D, E), rather than it being a cheap tire.

I've had C rated Falken Wildpeaks and currently have cheap E rated Milestar Patagonias and I wheeled/wheel both sets HARD. I've gone over some sharp rocks that sketched me out with both sets (both aired up and down, mainly down), but definitely have more confidence doing so with the E rated Milestars. Just my two cents with my personal experience... You can have the most expensive tire and still puncture it.

I'm leaning toward cheap tire. I'm sure the number of ply in the sidewall comes into play as well.

But for comparison sake, people LOVE the Duratracs and those are notorious for having weak sidewall and that is not a cheap tire.

Yeah we’re gonna have to Wait and see what happens to the others! But I blame it on the cheap tires as well I should have spent the extra money and get some RTs

I'm a fan of the discount tire certs if you're questionable about tire life.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
I have seen 3 Nittos so the same thing on the exact same trail, on the same day.
How about that! Damn you Beasley Knob! Weren’t mine, I was rolling TSLs!

F *#k Beasley Knob!!! Never again. Came down just right to catch between the tire and slider. A nice bill later and some bondo had it looking new again. But never again Beasley Knob ( this was probably my second time out on trails several years ago)

Anyone with a life hack to share? Camping with a toddler but need a heater on at night (big buddy). Any smarter people than me figure out a good way to keep them away from the heater. Our concern is if in the middle of the night he wakes and for some reason we don’t. Best idea I can come with so far is maybe putting it in a small cage like a dog crate so the heat would still work but he couldn’t get his hand close enough to touch anything too hot.

Why not use heated blankets instead?

Only heated blankets I’ve ever seen are electric, or do you mean a propane or I guess battery powered ones? I’m not trying to run generator and no hookups at camp sites we go to.

I have been trying to figure out the electic blankets. What kind of set up would you need to run one?

I’m no expert but I’ve used a cigarette lighter powered electric blanket for a night without draining my battery. I also camp in my truck bed so don’t have to worry about long cords
