I'm preparing to add the D29XL leaf to my Dakar leaf pack. The driver's side has the taco lean. I'm also going to add a 3* axle shim to see if I can get rid of some driveline vibe that has been annoying for the last 100k miles.

I figure while I have it apart, I'll paint the leafs with some EZ Slide graphite paint after sanding off the surface rust. I'm not planning on replacing the bushings unless I get them off and decide they look like they need replacing. I think they are ~$20 at the dealership and I'm pretty sure they keep them in stock.

I'm contemplating changing the sides that the leaf packs are installed on. Since the driver's side has been worn down more due to gas tank, battery, and driver all on the same side. IIRC, Driver side shows "+" and Passenger side shows "-", but I'm not sure that matters anymore.

Does anyone see any reason why I shouldn't swap sides?

I’ll never forget seeing an old Cherokee take a left at a stop light, gas it and get the inside front tire about 3ft off the ground...meanwhile the cab was at a ridiculous angle. Without its full-widths it would have tumbled. So awesome but that thing had to be a joke on the freeway.

A linked toy would be amazing. I’m currently battling the urge to boost my Tacoma or get a Land Cruiser with a 5.7. The new (to me) SxS is quenching my wheeling bug... for the moment.

Yes, it's the stance and height I want in the front. It's a little stiffer even with the bumper and winch but not too stiff. and I don't nose dive when braking. I'm satisfied with it.....for right now haha.

Anybody know how accurate the seasonal FSR dates are? Looks like a lot of them are supposed to open up today/this week. In my limited experience I've seen several open roads that were closed and closed roads that were open, but I don't know if that's common and the status shown online is worthless or I just got lucky.

Anyone know of an old skool mechanic/shop prefer near Cobb area that has experience with old big American gas trucks. Got my, worth more than its weight in gold to me, 87 f250 from my grandfather I need to get fixed. Some shade tree guy did something dumb I'm sure with wiring and put new carb on it. Never worked right and then sat for few years. Thanks

Would powder springs work for you? My buddy has a shop there and works on old schools. He works on my rides when I need some help.

Thanks, have a line for the sliders now, 3 people in line but ms0970 has first dibs and we are supposed to meet this evening as I was not able to this morning.

I forgot I also have some weather tech front 16-18 automatic floor mats that were unused - $60 and the Huskyliner Manual 2019-2021 front liners for $60 as well. Can get pics later today, they are out and just need cleaned before I take a pic.

Internet went out at my house yesterday so sorry for minimal pics. Will miss the Tacoma when it goes for sure, but having 1000lbft may make it ok lol.

    Yo!
Red Clay Offroad is hosting me on April 5th for those of you anywhere near Newnan.
Ill be tuning 3rd gens that day. (btw, OVtune is currently working on our access to 2nd gens, the rest of the 4runner TCU, and some FJ stuff).

If you are near and just want to come by and say what's up, that would be solid.
If you want a tune, let me know.

    Screenshot_20210317-232035~2.jpg

    Cheers fellas.
Also if anyone needs a TW express from most anywhere in southern or central florida early April, let me know.

I've been chasing down a seriously loud squeak from my Dakars ever since a ride from back in January. I guess sandy, gritty mud worked its way into somewhere and the squeak is so loud you can hear it in the cab over the radio at times. I doused it with silicon lubricant last week so hopefully she quiets down a bit.

That said, I don't see any reason why swapping would be a big deal. A leaf spring is a leaf spring. I put a + on my driver's and a 0 on my passenger's, but like you said I didn't really notice any major difference between the two of them.

Putting leaf liners between the leafs and then the ocassional zip tie at the edge to separate got rid of the ridiculous creaks/squeaks I was getting from my Dakars!

I think I've narrowed my squeak down to the front bushing... possibly on each side. I just don't know why they're squeaking. They're Energy Suspension bushings that were properly greased when installed. If the silicone spray doesn't help I may just have to pull the things off to clean everything.

Originally, I put the + on the driver side and the passenger side was either 0 or -, I can't remember. I'm thinking after years of use those symbols are meaningless.

As for the squeak. Mine eventually went away after I did nothing. You can shove some rubber liner in between the leafs and see if that helps. I'm going to give the graphite paint a try. Maybe this weekend...maybe next....or the month after. Who knows. I want to do it sooner than later though.
