How screwed is my tire? I took my glasses off to clean them on my shirt while driving. I hit something in the road. It was flat-ish and about the size of a college textbook. Made a huge solid noise when I hit it with my left front tire. Tire has been noisy for the past week, as if it were cupped. Steering is a little shaky at highway speed. Took a park at my tire yesterday and I can peel back a dorito-size chunk of the thread. More concerning is the gouge in the sidewall. TPMS doesn’t register any leakage but I’m a little nervous commuting on this tire. Tires are only 13 months old.

Thanks for all the recommendations guys, ended up going to Greer and had an excellent experience. The man knows his stuff and charged 50 bucks!

How hard/pricey is it to get tires right now? I know it’s so difficult/cost prohibitive in racing that race tracks are rescheduling events. I haven’t looked online yet. I used Pep Boys last time and will never return.

AFAIK, DiscountTire hasn’t been affected much (if any), at least in our neck of the woods.

I’ve had similar happen. Bought some Shoe Goo at Walmart and went to town with the slices and floppy chunks. Worked great…just ran that tire in the rear and kept a full size spare. College days of MacGyver-survival.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
Somehow I can see you out there with a tube of shoe goo. Lol

So when I installed my ditch light brackets, I stripped/crossthreaded one of my hood bolts. Think I should go to my mechanic or my body shop?

I don't trust my skill set/don't have enough clearance/don't have the chaser tool to do it myself.

Just kidding. I'd call both and see how much they charge for such a thing.

There's even a video of it! That Element was awesome. I took it through way deeper crossings than it should have been and it never skipped a beat:

I miss the cab on the E. The interior was bar none the best of any vehicle I had. It was so functional, spacious, and comfortable.

I really wish it had more cargo space, I would have kept it longer. I got the Taco because the E couldn't tow enough and because it didn't have enough cargo room. The taco has all the cargo room I need. The taco's lacking when it comes to towing, but I towed a camper with a Honda Fit so my expectations are low. Anyways, the E was a fun run but I'll be keeping the taco until the wheels fall off.

I had an element before my truck too. I got rid of it for the real 4wd and for towing as well. I believe if the added about two to three feet to the element and made it a little longer it would have been awesome. I did off road it quite a big. Took it on trails all the way up the Rockies into Canada. I lived in it full time for around two years. I miss the nomad life. Lol but I do love my truck even more than the element over all.

Nice! The "overland" 4Runner behind you must have had such mixed emotions. I plan to keep my Tacoma til the wheels fall off too.

    Welcome! :drunk:
