How was that campground? I'm taking my boy and meeting up with some friends for a family trip to lake Winfield Scott in a few weeks.... I can't wait to not have cell phone service. Hope there's some trout left up there.

So I am looking at doing a dual battery set up behind my rear passenger seats. I know the battery sizes I need but one thing I am having trouble deciding on is the smart system to charge the batteries.

I am looking at the off-grid engineering or the genesis kit. Has anyone looked this stuff up or did their research and found one was better for any reason.

this is someone that started the setup then just used 1 battery. I have tried to read up on this stuff but can’t seem to wrap my head around it and keep getting sidetrack.

I would go with a buddy. Toe strap, recovery boards.
I would go with the OffGrid kit. If your wanting to go the BlueSea ACR route let me know, I got one I will sell you cheap.

I went with a RedArc BCDC charger, as it is a smart controller allowing me to use multiple different battery sizes and types.
Aka, I have 2 Odessey Batteries in the engine bay, and 2 LiPo Battleborns in the back. All being charged as I drive, or the RedArc switches between them automatically while using my Solar panel when the truck is off.

I've been kind of wanting to do it for a while now. AFAIK, the Trey Mountain section has been rerouted due to what seems like a permanent closure.

That looks fancy. I used a "Battery Doctor" isolator that allowed charging the second battery in our old 4Runner. It worked well and I still have it. Was going to use it in my truck, but have pretty much abandoned the dual battery setup idea. It came highly recommended by some of the #vanlife people (or whatever you call the nomads who drive around and live out of their van), and worked well for me. It also allows you to bridge and jump start yourself with the push of a button if needed.

If I were to do another one, I'd use that to charge the battery when driving and look into some kind of setup to allow the addition of a solar panel.

Or, depending on your power needs and how often you park outside, keep them totally separate and just have a solar charger on the secondary one. But then it would be less expensive to go with a "solar generator" or sorts.

Taking off from the light at "Tacoma" speed, I see. Everyone else left you in the dust!

Well it's just alright.....not my favorite North Ga. Campground for sure. There's actually 2 campgrounds. There's Mulky Gap Campground and Coopers Creek. Coppers Creek is the better of the 2 as Mulky Gap Campsites are across the road from the river and most catch the afternoon sun. They are both small. I think Coopers Creek has 17 sites. I do have to say though they (Coopers Creek) do have some REALLY tucked away sites across the road that are super private. (If you don't care to on the water) I would probably camp in one of these myself and walk to the river/creek to fish. I can also tell you I spoke with the "Camp Master" and I asked him what was the newly installed gravel driveway for. It was right at the entrance where you pull off. He said it was for the stocking trucks that stock trout and he said they usually come on Thursdays but mostly on Friday. So at least they stock trout right at the campground. Hope this helps.

I saw a guy using one of these to clean up his camp dishes. Pretty smart! I tried it and it works very well.

Camera time is important! But I consider @CowboyTaco comment to be true. I'm always the last off the light! But that's cool too! I serve a different purpose! :burnrubber:
