The 285s will look better, but I'd push to get what you ordered. I'd think that you'd be pissed after your first commute. If you don't watch your gas needle go down as you drive each day, you would.

Just a for instance, I went with the Geolandar AT G015 tires. They are an all terrain tire that has the severe snow service rating (or whatever the mountain snowflake represents) and I've read a ton of good reviews on them. Nice and quiet on the highway too....but that's cause they look more like a highway tire. The aren't knobby or aggressive by any stretch. I hate looking at them, but like them when I am driving. Flip side of that is COVID. My commute is 0 miles each way and so I do more looking at the truck than driving it.

Ok, maybe that was an unhelpful ramble. I think you'd probably like the look of the 285s better, but hate what they do to your commute.

Edit: and I see that you already got it figured out. so this is an irrelevant post anyway.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!

So I will follow suit! If your in 34s or 35s, you need to give me those so I can help you out with my 33s!

    LOL.

I actually wouldn't mind scooping up a set of MTs in the 33" range. I'm sure I could find some cheap wheels on CL or FB Mktplace for trail days.

I will say that when I ran my pizza cutters 255/85/16 the truck was way snappier…but that’s long ago.

I got the snap back with 5.29s, at this point I almost have a crawl box in low range. Which has proven to be very helpful. Some of the trails I am riding on up in NC are serious inclines and declines…a bit sketchy, but feels fine in low range with lockers on.

I forgot to mention that I ordered a Tom Woods driveshaft for the 3rd Gen. Goodbye bs vibration and sound, hello strong AF with splicer joints!!! I will keep you posted.
Also lifted the truck another ~2” :) I put the Westcott perch on the FOX shocks it came with. Worked out perfectly.

I run 285s, and I think they are great.

However, I regeared the truck. I'd suggest sticking with 265s unless you plan to regear.

285s on stock gears will suck power and gas mileage.

I put the Wheelers Offroad 3* axle shim on mine when I was working on the leafs back in December. I've only driven the truck like 3 times since then, but no vibes that I noticed.

These new ATP’s have pretty beefy sidewalls!

Nice! Maybe those are the ones for me versus the AT3... how are they on road noise so far--your drive home I guess...? Seem to get good reviews on Discount Tire site....

New tires are always more quiet than old ones. I believe one of my others was cupped because a low-speed “groan” has gone away on my right side.these are LT tires, so thicker sidewalls. I can feel they are more firm when I go through turns. About to make a long trek so I’ll break them in and feed them out.

If your bandwidth allows, I'd like to get in on these. Lunar Rock (or something close) would be ideal, otherwise bronze/gold or black would be great.

Any recommendations for mounting shovels inside or outside of the truck?
