    Good Morning.
Couple of weeks ago, gun safes and moving of them popped up in conversation.
For those of you, who have a gun safe(s) do you have them bolted to the floor?
If you do what are you using for a moisture barrier to keep the moisture from coming up through basement floor into the safe?
I am seeing two options online. 1 being a rubber mat and the other is using shims (safe savers)
    https://www.amazon.com/Gun-Storage-...&qid=1644328586&sprefix=safe+sa,aps,57&sr=8-1

(I will be installing a dehumdifer rod in the safe once I get relocated)

Interesting. I used RVT around the hole.

The safe will have the holes already in the bottom and they will have plastic caps that will cover the holes. With your golden rod inside you should be good to go. The rod itself will basic do the job alone.

If you're really worried about it, just cut a square of thick tarp or heavy plastic sheet like tyvek to put down under the safe and then bolt it down and silicone the washers to create a seal.

I thought the same thing from the video I watched on Youtube, that were using them. They can be stacked too to help level the safe too.

I ve never bolted my safe down before, and I want to set it up correctly this time, but I want it to be a once and done deal.

Thick plastic sheeting and silicone the holes. Dehumidifier rod inside the safe.
I would hesitate to put the safe up on any kind of blocks. I am paranoid about creating a point for someone to be able to stick a bar under the safe and pry the bolts out.

My thoughts exactly on elevating it off the floor. Unlikely but if you're going through the trouble to bolt it to the ground to prevent it being turned over or moved, then don't make it any easier for that to happen by giving an easy leverage point.

Using a vapor barrier sheeting composed of polyolefin will greatly reduce moisture intrusion. Another option is to use an epoxy coating on top of the concrete with a low perm rating. Both will keep your safe free of moisture and in most cases keep whatever warranty your safe manufacture provides.

And if you have to move the safe, half of the weight is in the door. Take the door off using the appliance moving straps and 2 people. Safe will be much easier to skoot into place.
Watch out for the ballbearing in the top hinge. It likes to stick to the door side of the hinge and fall out/get lost.
Add axle or moly grease to the hinges before putting the door back on.

I used to throw industrial sized silica gel packets in mine. I've read that you just need to bake them every few years. Haven't done that yet, but probably should.

I use to do that too but then I realized with those, my golden rod, and my safe is in my air control basement that it was way overkill. My safe was probably fine with nothing but the golden rod makes me sleep at night. If you can get power to your safe then it is the best solution.

Swapped from 5100s (1 blown) and Deaver AAL to 5160s and Icon 3AAL. The ride difference is so much better. No more bouncing after railroad tracks and the such.

Now I got to decide what to swap the 5100s for up front
