Thank you! I'm digging it too. It's very unique. In most lights, it looks like a dark brown; but it looks like a gold wrap in direct sunlight. Almost like a brown/gold chameleon effect.

 

That color looks good on that Sequoia. It needs the black accents to not look full on grandpa truck like it most often does on the Tundra.

Is that the wife’s new daily or yours?

 

It's my wife's. The more new tech goes into vehicles, the more I want to hang onto the Tacoma. I feel like a grandpa saying that, but I like being able to work on most aspects of it myself. I've even considered going back to a more stock-ish form to get back some of the gas mileage that I've lost over the years.

So on that note, if someone (me) wanted to get some cool photos of the new ride (for the gram) without doing any real offroading...where would you (anyone reading this) suggest? The closer it is to Gainesville, the better.

 

Isn’t there a WMA just north of Lula?

It’s not quite off-roading, but catching one of the smaller city parks around the lake at sunset could present some good photo ops.
I recall a couple of them that had parking right next to the water when I lived on the north end of Gville.

 

I feel that, the difference between our newer cars and our old Honda Element is night and day when it comes to maintenance/mods.

If you’re looking for just rural gravel with woods all around, head up to McEver Lake Rd or Lazy Falls Rd.

 

Yeah. Would be cool to get a waterfall that's on the side of the road, but the only one that I know of like that is on Indian Grave Gap Rd, and it isn't all that magnificent.

I like the idea of a park around the lake at sunset. I might have to see what I can make happen there.


In other news, we've had some family move in with us temporarily. They both drive Toyotas, so I now have a second gen Tacoma (mine), third gen Tacoma (SIL), fifth gen 4Runner (BIL), and third gen Sequoia in the garage or driveway. We're looking like a new and used Toyota lot over here.

Also, the kids have started calling the new car "Woody." ....I guess because the brown is sort of like the color of wood, and it fits the whole "big tree" that I see people referring to their Sequoias on IG.

 

As of now weather is looking good for next weekend! If anybody is interested in camping at Lake Blueridge, just let me know and I can give the deets

Meeting at the Lake Blueridge campsite on Friday afternoon, staying until Sunday afternoon super easy to get to. I'll try and find the coordinates and I'll PM the group. Rather not freely post them on the internets so more people can ruin good sites.

Is there a meetup/ maintenance day in the near future? I need to take my front wheels off & lube my UCA’s. I got the tools but can’t move/get my floor jack due to knee injury. I need a hand lifting the truck and getting the wheels off.

 

Haven't heard or seen of one in a few years.

 

I usually host one every now and then but I’ve been quite busy the last few years with work travel
