GA Tacoma Owners BS Thread

I looked into getting an RTT before, but I don't think it's worth the hassle of having to take it down every time I wanna go somewhere. I don't mind sleeping in my $70 Bass Pro tent anyway. I guess if I wanted to feel fancy I could just put it in the bed of my truck

 

That is the only shitty part is taking it down every time you wanna move. It's also nice to not sleep on the ground and with how often I went camping I justified it

 

Makes sense....now I need to decide if the sky option is really worth it. Seems like it would be colder having to have the tarp type thing over the top of the tent

I want the expo points of a rtt

 

I would want a sky option because it'd be cool to look out during clear nights

 

Which one do you have

 

Ayer. Cheapest one and since I can only have 2 people in my truck I got a 2 person tent. But I will be selling it next year and getting the 3 person with the Sky option

Well looks like I'm back again... Wife finally agreed to let me get a new Tacoma. The 1st gen I got a few months back was not for me.

found a 2016 TRD Off-Road 4x4 with a sun roof at one of the dealers I do a lot of loans for and was able to get a price on it.

Gotcha, there's a guy somewhere on here with a truck that looks exactly like that....but he's got the Tundra V8 in it

 

definitely not him .. its a prerunner. He went most places we did except the river crossing in Earl's Ford.

 

Just got my dakar extra leaf added with my ubolt flip kit. Gotta go get a 7/8" deep socket to torque the U bolts then I'll put on the bump stops. I only crushed 1 digit, tore the side off my right index finger when the leaf pack seated into the centering pin. Fortunate no injured bones, coulda been worse.

Trucks sitting real nice now, super high end but it'll settle a bit.

Next on my list is also a RTT. @GreeGunc there is a smittybilt RTT GB going on and a CVT group buy. Smittybilt will be your cheapest option but the CVT GB is 25% off.

I was wanting a RTT about 6-8 months ago, and the wife wasn't feeling it. Now, after seeing three rattlers in olne day at Windrock, (on the trails of course and not the camp ground) she is wanting one. I really want to go expedition trailer/camper route. Damn we have expensive hobbies here on TW.

 

Word of advice for everyone, no matter what you are looking for, as long as you don't mind second hand, and of course the deal has to be right, always check Craig's list. there are a few RTT on there right now.

 

Someone was trying to sell the smaller Smittybilt for $1,000. I laughed. It got taken down so I hope no one actually bought it... may be a way to make some money come to think of it.
