YES IT IS! If it wasn't for me needing a new clutch and tires(and still dreaming of 35's and regearing) I would have already looked into buying that one, for my wife.

Legit question: How often do you burn up a clutch with traffic around here? You go inside the perimeter a bunch right?

I work downtown so yes, I'm inside the perimeter and on the surface streets a lot. I'm fully convinced, I burnt my clutch out, by beating the hell out of it off road. Figure this to be a very expensive lesson learned by me, while learning the ins and outs of off roading. Other than that , I believe I would have seen a much longer life out of the stock clutch, despite city driving.

Hmm curious as how you burnt up a clutch so fast. Pretty sure I'm either on my stock one or a replacement. But still mine is quite a bit older than yours

    Good morning guys and gals,

Finally scraped up some coin to throw into my rig. First order of business in my opinion is armour/front bummer. Now I know there is plenty of conversation on the subject. However I wanna get a little personal with this, and turn to my community. So I'll ask you all.

Currently I'm leaning toward ARB - FRONT SUMMIT BAR KIT @ $1,600 (that's kinda high on what I wanted to spend also) via there website.
However does the Australian company even ship to US, and I bet that's expensive? Does anyone have any experience of knowledge on this?
Look at it, its juicy AF!
I am totally digging those side finder guards, has anyone else seen that option with other off road bumpers?
Those guards go all the way across the length of the truck too and function as a step assist also. Who else makes guards like that (Compatible with what bumpers)?

Taco Fam, will ya'll please recommend some good bumpers and share the experiences you've had with venders and/or fabricators? Again I'm Marietta local, and its for a 2017 TRD Pro.

ARB makes good stuff, but usually stores in the US deal with the shipping aspect of it so no need to worry about ordering from Australia.

$1600 is about the normal price you're going to pay is what I've seen. As for the fender guards I haven't seen much out there (I don't frequent 3rd gen stuff) so I'm not sure.

But here are a few other companies you can look at, all are TW vendors as well

    http://www.pelfreybilt.com/product-category/bumpers/

    https://www.relentlessfabrication.com/collections/toyota/2016-tacoma

Metal Tech makes some really good stuff, super engineered too! If I could get some of their stuff I would

    https://www.metaltech4x4.com/categories/

    http://demello-offroad.com/2016-2017-tacoma-bumpers

    http://www.cbioffroadfab.com/products/3rd-gen-toyota-tacoma/

I also recommend getting some type of a suspension upgrade to deal with that extra weight up front.

Oh and welcome to TW!

Pelfreybilt has top notch products and are also a jewel to deal with. Excellent experience all the way around.
Just a suggestion, if you are intending to do any serious trails, I would recommend in investing in full skids and sliders first, if you haven't already.
Also take into account what your future plans may be for your build. If you ever dream of going 35's those fender guards will not be ideal at that time as cutting of some sort will be needed.
Good thing about ARB products is that they do have the money and time to throughly test and research their product.

Pretty cool when Terrapin Brewery hand delivers a 24 pack of tall boys and a 12 pack to work!

Love me some Terrapin. I was able to go visit their brewery in Athens when I went to see App St vs UGA.

I'll drink almost any beer if it is free....

The bus we take from Buckhead drops us off several hours before kickoff so we usually will go visit them before hand.

    Thanks BYJOSHCOOK,
I was looking at also adding a winch due to the ease of adding the bumper at the same time. Once I did the weight math i'm looking at putting 245#'s on my front end. Granted I have the TRD Pro FOX shocks and springs which is rated at 600 (so said FOX 1.800 #). They said it wouldn't be a bad idea to re-valve the shocks or go with a 650-700 spring rate... That's kinda latin to me... BYJOSHCOOK, I'm mall crawling with some light off roading on fire roads and old mountain road turns offs for some sweet camping spots, nothing like pro course off roading...yet.. I know you recommended suspension upgrade but could you elaboriate? Do you think I could get away with keeping my TRD Pro stock equipment or do I serious risk ruining my truck and getting in a pickle deep off road?

Thanks, CountryDan, Pelfreybilt is pretty sweet, but isnt it made in China? Kinda rather support someone else other than them. I'm more suburban M-F and my weekends get rural -off roadish. So Full skid and sliders are super cool but not necessary yet, most of my dangers comes from break checking idiots and absent minded drivers on my tail. My Taco is my everyday driver too so probably wont go 35's haha, but I'd go a few inches over stock eventually.

What Kinda suspension upgrades do y'all recommend, just springs, springs and shocks? Anything you can throw me is appreciated. Thank you guys!

    .
Many bumper manufacturers offer their products in aluminum for a little extra $$ and weight savings. If break checkers and tailgaters are your biggest worries aluminum > plastic any day. When you see your stock crash bar, which can be picked up like a six pack only lighter, you will be glad you upgraded. X2 for Pelfreybilt.

I dunno Mudfootshuffle... aluminum is dandy and all but I think I'm going for the all american steal..made in Australia :)
its either save a buck or save some weight, I'm not against aluminum, however I've spent about a month look at designs and bumpers and I like ARB, not about to start looking again. I'm going to get that Summit one they do. I dont think they do aluminum. plus what I might pay in lighter gear i'd probably spend the same in springs...maybe

It depends on what you want with your rig. If you plan to go hardcore offroad and can justify spending a few grand in suspension goes Kings all day. If not I'd go OME due to it being much cheaper but still a good ride. Just depends on your cash flow and your plan for the rig

Damn, any chance I can wear out what stock is (which isnt bottom of the barrel) and later get some kings? or does it really not work like that?
I was thinking like trying to get 24K-36K outta the TRD Pro stock suspension before upgrading, haven't even hit 4K on my miles yet, lol! If i'm a fool just let me know, I unfortunately don't know better.

Yeah I'm sure you can, especially since you have the Pro. I think you'd be alright but again I'm not up to date on all the 3rd gen stuff
