Yeah they are sketch! I ended up not using spring compressors and just undoing the top shock nut and lowering the lower control arm with a jack to undo the springs compression. I then did the opposite installing back in the spring. It was also sort of sketchy lol. But it worked. Man was the rear way easier.

Nope. The stand is brand new but the strut tamer I purchased locally down here. I’m into the whole setup for ~$200.

How the hell did you get that for $200? The Strut Tamer retails for like $700 without the stand.

Closer to $250 total...but got lucky on buying the strut tamer. It is two models older than current though. Guy closed his shop to be a foreman for somebody else and it was the last thing left. Nobody knew what it was so it sat unsold for a while. I came across it while looking for one and made him an offer on his already reduced price.

The stand I picked up online. It was missing lots of pieces so I contacted OTC. They offered to replace all the missing pieces at no charge to me. Waited a couple weeks then all of a sudden 8 nyloc nuts arrived. I called OTC back and the tech researched to find out that I was going to be getting pieces as they become available. Since no real timeline, he sent me out a whole brand new stand so I wouldn’t have to wait. Pieces for the other one are still trickling in too...last week I got the two wheels, four rubber feet, more hardware, and the tray.

Damn. Whenever I get a pretty good deal I always come across someone that got a better one. I picked up a Branick 7200 for $300 then paid $89 to have it shipped.......what part of S.C. are you in? Wouldn’t happen to be in North Augusta would you?

That was still a good deal on that Branick! That was what I was originally looking for but happened across the strut tamer.

I’m down by Hilton Head/Savannah area.

Yeah. About half of retail. So I’m pretty happy with it....I thought of trying to find shops closing down and selling parts, but they don’t usually advertise that sort of thing. how did you happen upon that one?

It was posted on Letgo (nowhere else) with an automatically generated title “Black metal frame”. The description was of the seller explaining what it does, not what it is. I’m pretty sure it pulled up on the keyword strut or spring. Just got lucky...

Thanks man. The sales/customer service department chick was definitely a miserable piece of work...thankfully she transferred me to the OTC tech guy (guessing middle aged guy who actually loves his job) who dealt with the sales chick on my behalf. The way I understand it is that OTC is owned by or a subsidiary of Bosch (replacement pieces had Bosch return labels and customer service numbers). Bosch chick transferred me to OTC tech guy...OTC guy took care of me.
