I doubt that could be the next camping trip location. It's too small to fit 6-7 trucks I'd think, maybe 5 max. Idk never been but I'm down for a weekend trip

So I think I'm going to order the Dakars tonight. Need some advice from you guys. In the research I've done, I've seen it recommended that you shouldn't install a carrier bearing drop kit because you don't want to change the geometry of the drive line coming from the transmission. Instead you want to correct any geometry through the angled shims in between the axle and the rear springs. I'm also understanding the general rule of thumb is 1* of shim for every inch of lift.

So for right now my purchase plan:
    -EL095R x 2 Springs
    -Energy Suspension Bushing Kit
    -Extended 7" U-Bolts
-3* Tapered Axle Shim (2.75" approximate lift)

Does that sound like a complete package? I've already got 5160 shocks with a brake line spacer, so that's not a point of concern.

Haven’t you done them twice now? Once on your truck, then again on mine?

I've never done the shims. If you want to get all scientific, you could take driveline angle measurements prior to doing the install. That way, you know what you need to do to get back "in spec." I didn't do the shims. I got some vibes sometimes, but not all the time. I tried the center support bearing drop and noticed no difference.

So, I guess I'm not much help.

I'd say do the install with neither and see how it rides. It shouldn't be too challenging to get either installed after the fact.

Also, I installed those springs on another Taco with neither the shim or the center support drop and he had no vibes. So maybe that does help afterall.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
Cool, nice addition to the family. You know I approve :)
Can’t wait to see it on the trail.

So you will need a backup camera with that vehicle so you don’t back over any and everything.
Here ya go, pretty sick setup for cheap, well kinda cheap.

I have yet to do it to mine. I’ve got one just waiting on a rear bumper for install

On the SC side of the Chatooga. Take 441 into Clayton, GA, turn at the sign that says Warwoman WMA and then go all the way down until you hit the creek. Cross over the creek and then the Chatooga and there’s this little beach.

We’re down. There a cool place near there for that kind of thing. You can put in at 78 and go down to that spot I posted. Some good little rapids around there.

    Excellent parts list.

Good advice here. I bought an inclinometer off Amazon and referenced the Spicer YouTube video on finding drive line angles on our trucks. Mine had vibes from day one and I didn’t want the lift to exacerbate the vibes even more. Once the rear was lifted it was in spec and drove how it should have from Toyota. I’d suggest holding off any CB drop or axle shims and go from there. No need in introducing more angles right off the bat.

Very cool, it has an aftermarket back up cam now. It's one of the ones that go over the rearview. Can't wait to start modding it's virgin ass...lol. Think I got a pretty good deal on it and it's in pretty good shape, a few dings here and there and only 127k miles. Looks like most services have been handled. Already took off the vent visors and gave her a good bath, running boards and fender flares probably next. Oh and it needs new tires so keep your eyes peeled for a set of 255/75/17 or 265/70/17. Or something with 16" wheels which I prefer.

Great advice guys, thanks! Gonna wing it with no tapered shims, no CB drop and see how it goes. I already have extended U-Bolts from the AAL install, so I'm snagging the Dakars with bushings only. $525 out the door. Can't beat that!

    Thanks again.

I’m pretty sure that put in is the beginning of section 0 or 1. Can’t recall which one it is.

Very nice. I carry the same 229 in the legion variety. Love it. I would be all over this if I had not just bought so much crap for my taco.
