All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
Yeah my buddy has 37s and these on his FJ80. He told me the same thing.

That was one of maybe 3 episodes that were genuinely entertaining. Rather than moments of a small chuckle peppered into the yawns of ‘it’s been done before’ that comprised the remainder of the American episodes were.

Totally agree. This one, and another 4x4 one where the funny guy drags a pink trailer through the desert. If there was another gem hidden in there, please share.

In all honesty I haven't watched every episode. I gave the first couple seasons a valiant effort but I found it fell short of the OG Top Gear and as such only watched episodes of subsequent seasons at random.

The show and characters had an uphill battle right out of the gate. With nearly 30 seasons of content and years of chemistry between characters from the BBC Top Gear, its no wonder the American version struggled for original material and somewhat forced interactions. The latter episodes proved to be more entertaining for me as I felt the interactions between the hosts became more nature and less scripted.

I think any Top Gear fan will agree that the interplay between the hosts of the BBC version was a primary reason that show was as enjoyable and as successful as it was. Sadly I've been a little let down by the Grand Tour. I may have had too high of expectations though.

In my book, that falls under the category of "just because you can doesn't mean that you should." Granted, I didn't watch the video since I'm at work...so I'm judging the book by its cover.

Hey y'all! Posting from Haines, AK right now! Anywhoser... Not sure if anyone has been interested in a silly walkaround of my truck, but I just posted 2 videos this week on it. The second video goes over my swingout and my "living room" if you are interested in how that's all set up and kept me living out of the truck for 4+ months. If you want to check them out, go to my YouTube. Excuse my hair, it looks like I have horns (which is semi accurate), but I didn't realize it until after I spent all that time filming:facepalm:

ok, so I'm about halfway through the second video.

On one hand, it annoyed me that you don't know the EXACT model name of EVERYTHING on your truck. Example: the front springs. <--just had to give you a hard time.

On the other hand, I LOVE that you are able to do the research for your truck, make it happen and then move onto the next thing and not obsess over what you've already done. Especially loving the attitude toward your trip. Nice truck and glad you are enjoying the journey. It's kind of nice/refreshing that you aren't Overland AF, but functional and just doing something that you love and not trying to monetize it.

    Thanks for sharing!

LOL... I was like "I'm gonna get so much sh*t for not knowing some stuff." But then I thought, "I'd like to see one of these broskies do what I'm doing." Haha

Thanks so much for watching! Hope to give ideas and get ideas!

So true. Sadly, I fall into that category. :anonymous:

Though I started modding my truck to make it better for hunting. Back in TX, I added the bumper and lights after several close calls with deer. Our hunting camp was about 45 minutes to an hour away from cell reception and I figured an antler through a radiator in the middle of nowhere would be a very bad thing. Now I live here and have no hunting camp, but I get to explore the N. Ga area some.

So what's after Alaska? You going to take up residence there, keep traveling, or something else entirely?

Hahah! I'm sure you're not one of those broskies. And the full bull bars are definitely good for getting those deer. N. GA was my saving grace for quite a few years, especially just before I left.

I'm going to try and make Alaska happen. For about 5 years it's been my dream. Right now I am regretting not finishing the 6ish months I planned and I feel like a poster for not, but I had an opportunity to rent something super cheap in exchange for watching someone's place for the next 6.5 months. And honestly if I left and went back to the lower 48 to drive more, I was super scared I'd just end up back in GA. And really, I don't want to have to choose a place, but I do miss my people in GA a lot. A lot more than I thought I would. I'm trying to get a remote job with my friend's company so I don't have to choose! And while I'm kinda lonely and lost right now in Haines (because it's all new), I'd hate to be 110 and say, "I didn't try Alaska," and regret THAT.

Boy that was a lot of info
