For those looking for somewhere to get away from it all, the parks and campgrounds in Alabama are still open.

    It's just a short drive...

Was clearing out bunch of brush in yard yesterday to give kids more room to mess around. Then today found this. Was this what I’m thinking?

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
Hell yes. That right there is a man killer, stay clear of that beast. In fact I think you just learned the value of snake boots. Probably was right under neath you.
Diamond shape head tells you it’s venomous.
Keep your yard debris cleared out. This is where snake dens are made.

If I can I will release then elsewhere, but my recommendation is when you find a poisonous snake in your yard, take it out with a shovel and big boots.

Perfect day to get outside. We packed a picnic, chilled the cooler, rolled up the sides of the soft topper and hit the back roads to Scull Schoals. Kids hopped in the back and we rolled about 10mph down the gravel roads. Forestry roads were closed. Spent about two hours slowly rolling through the woods.

Thet are definitely waking up. I have seen a variety of snakes lately when turkey hunting. A good pair of snake gaiters and a 38 with snakeshot go a long way.

I’m not familiar... can you share what “roads” you took?
I’m dying to take a ride...

We moved to GA from central FL about 3 years ago. First summer here my 6 year old daughter got bit by a copperhead on her toe. She spent 3 days in the hospital, the swelling fortunately stayed below the knee and she recovered 100%, but it did take time.

I have never been fond of the creatures even less so now. Basically anytime I see one I kill it and consult google later to figure out what it was. I know most of them are are helpful to habitat but something about them just find unsettling.

Greene Co. between Greensboro and Watkinsville. I used the forestry road map linked above. The kids loved getting to ride in the bed and we were going too slow to kick up dust.

I think we are going to take the family up to Vogel state park tomorrow to hike some trails and see what we can see. Probably head over to Blood mountain and something else that my wife found that sounded cool.

I was just about to suggest that we pick a brewery somewhere in the middle of those two, but I'm guessing breweries are closed for normal enjoyment.
