Huricane Creek is a great ride and highly recommended. Just a little far for me that weekend. Just got back from that area Sunday. Trails were rough and washed out from Tropical Storm Fred, it was a lot of fun.

Only concern with the trails I was referencing is lack of intel on them. I’d hate for it to disappoint anyone. They are listed as “high clearance vehicle requirements” but no telling what that equates to in person.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
You wanna talk about ruts, bro you should see my driveway! The hurricane brought massive watershed down, the roads were a creek, the creek was one giant rapid that had risen 17’. It was insanity. I could have kayaked my driveway ;)

I totally believe it. The trail damage was extensive. It reminded me of when Zeta hit a few years ago. They are still working on cleanup and slowly lifting road closures there but the closure list is still lengthy. Glad you faired alright man!

There was rumor that Hurricane Creek might have a tree blocking access to complete the trail, so I would plan to bring a chainsaw if that were the case. No info on how large of a tree or the downed location if it hasn't already been removed. I'm still up in the air as to what to do, but I definitely want to do something.

The guy on 4runners.com is down to explore trails around Blairsville, so this is currently leading the list. He understands that we don't know what is down those roads.

Wish I could make this one. The Big Frog loop is a very scenic route. Always enjoy it this time of year. Post up of the north western side has reopened.

We picked up the Traverse at Cherry Log and proceeded west. We took the loop counter-clockwise, and everything was open for what we drove (decided to exit via Ladd Springs Road to get some food).

Some tight fits, some big overhanging full-ass trees. If you were lifted with a rack, you might have to get creative on the east portion of the loop.

Thanks for the update! Glad you got out on this beautiful day. Looks like we are heading out next Saturday for some trails if everything goes according to plan. More the merrier.

    Um....what?

My plans may be changing. I took Friday off and Monday is a holiday, so my wife is talking about us going up to Mammoth Cave, KY. She agreed to make Nemo tunnel along the way.

Assuming you plan to go without me, I'll get you in touch with "GrantA" on 4runners.com.

I’ve heard good things about Mammoth Cave NP. That and Nemo Tunnel are on my list to see here in the southeast. Be sure to post up your review.

We are definitely set on the 9th. I think the game plan is to meet out in Blairsville in the morning, hit a few trails then visit Grandaddy Mimm’s afterwards. I’m planning on heading back out after the brewery to find a place to camp that night. So far we have a group of 3 going, @Seanb600, a non TW member who drives a Tacoma and myself. All are welcome to join.

If any of y'all want to join.

I'm highly tempted to go. I did this a few years back with @Sprocket @synaps3 and @r0bn8or.

Let me know when/where you guys are meeting Saturday in Blairsville. I might be able to make it.

So far the game plan is to meet at the Dunkin’ Donuts/ Marathon ( 16 Bracketts Way, Blairsville, GA 30512) at 10:30am.

The trails I have mapped out will be roughly 14-18 miles and should take about 2 hours.

Post trail ride we will head back into Blairsville and check out Granddaddy Mimms for brews and some place to grab a late lunch. A few of us plan to head back into the woods and camp Saturday night.

Just be sure to post up if you’re going to make it. All are welcome.

What kind of expectations/info do you have on the trails' difficulty? I was thinking of going up there Saturday or Sunday to scout out some camp sites in the Coopers Creek WMA for next weekend and could possibly meet up.

I always set my expectations low for new roads. They are labeled as “High Clearance” FS Roads but I find that typically means a Civic or Camry would be ill equipped for such a road here in the SE at least. I would say they could potentially be steep, rough FSR’s but nothing a stock Tacoma should fear.

With Coopers Creek being so close to where we are venturing, I’d recommend joining us. You can always shoot over to the WMA afterwards.

I got up to Coopers Creek but didn't even make it to the area I was trying to checkout, too many side trails to explore. There are some very fun, challenging/sketchy trails in there if you look in the right spots.
