Buddy of mine picked up an LR3 Wednesday, so we went up and camped Wednesday night and did some wheeling yesterday morning. Found some great trails to push the vehicles on - managed to knock a trim panel off the LR3, got it to throw a few warning lights, and got it stuck on a steep climb that he had to break the winch out for. My Tacoma on the other hand took on everything and kept asking for more. On the steep climb I turned on ATRAC and the rear locker, didn't slip a tire for even a moment. Might as well have been velcro'd to the ground.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
Sounds like an awesome time! These tacos are impressive. I have rarely used my winch unless the obstacle would cause me hell to get over without it.
Grab some traction boards if you find a deal on them. You can get yourself out of a lot spots without having to pull a line. I threw a set on my SxS, was the best decision I ever made. So much easier just to throw those back in the bed and keep moving.

Oh I've got traction boards and most every other bit of recovery gear, a winch is the one thing I've gone back and forth and am holding off on for now. I really want one, but until this truck is no longer a daily driver or needs some bumpers replaced, there will probably be very few situations I might need one, and I don't wheel alone so a buddy can most always pull me out if I were to get stuck.

I feel like we've sort of failed at "the point" of this thread....not many weekly adventures being discussed. That said, there's no better time than the present, amiright?

Would anyone be interested in doing a Christmas Eve trail run? I'm off Christmas eve and the day before and would kind of like to get out, as I haven't really done any "good" trails this year. Depending on where, we could tie in a food donation to a local manna food bank or a toys for tots sort of deal (but we're probably too late on the toys). Also, never rule out a brewery. I sort of want to try them all, so if there is one near....then a stop will be in order.

Anyone know of any outdoor shooting ranges in North GA besides the state run ranges? I know you can target shoot on National Forest land as well, but seems like there are a lot of restrictions (No WMAs, distance from roads, private land, etc.) that would leave you looking at maps all day just to find an area that's not breaking any rules and has a suitable backstop.

National Forest land is all I know about.

Chatuge Gun Club has an open day once a month - Jan 9 is the next one.

Safety rules are in place, but not a bad place to shoot.

Not very expensive to join, either.

There’s a 100yd FS range outside Dillard. If it’s rained you’ll need 4x4 or at least good tires and not drive like a dipshit. Bring a few trash bags, it’s usually a mess

I take it this is it based on the reviews?

If so, sounds like we need to get a group to go. Most people complaining about the road, but that sounds like fun.

I'm 1:30 to Darnell and 2:15 to Sumac (assuming that is the one)

Where does the road lead? I may just have to find out tomorrow or Friday.

Edit: I'll probably head up there next week to check it out. All the reviews that I have found say that it is filled with trash, so I'll probably take a roll of trash bags and spend some time picking up whatever I can.

The range is always dirty. Bring gloves and trash bags. Rednecks use pizza boxes, 2-liter bottles, never pick up ammo boxes. The hardest section of the road is just after the range, the road just eventually dead ends

I used to say, there is no replacement for displacement. Now I say there is no replacement for education. Lol
I got into it really bad with 2 guys in the River 2 weeks ago. I watched them discard all of there trash on the River bank. I went nuts…almost got in a fight with the two, because they were so ignorant it was driving me to madness…
