Sounds like a visit to both is in order. I like shooting bottles and clay pots and what not, but I also know how to clean up after myself. The road conditions to Darnell sound appealing for wheeling too - any other good trails in the area?

It looks like Sumac is a bit nicer setup, could maybe do a trail ride starting at Cashes Valley and connect various forest roads over to the range.

I wouldn’t say that Darnell is worth a drive just to wheel. It’s added fun after shooting. Just after the range is a washed out / rutted spot where you have to have good wheel placement. Then it’s a little rocky. Worth doing

Warwoman WMA is right there too, and that has been on my list of places to check out. Also, Black Rock Mountain State Park.

I'm currently thinking I will head up there next Friday (Dec 31).

You must be farther east than I thought.

I find a landscape rake (as opposed to a leaf rake) to be really helpful clearing trash. And of course gloves.

I figure gloves are a must. Good call on the rake.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
    Or a large magnet!

There are a handful of trails in that area I've yet to try - Sarahs Creek, Charlies Creek, Finney Creek, etc. I could be down for next Friday

I figured they would not be shooting brass if they are rolling with bottles and plates ;)

    True.

But I was hoping you had discovered an easy way to pick up brass. LOL

There was talk of completely shutting down Charlie’s creek. I’m off and could be convinced to get out that Friday

After this rain I’d imagine Charlie’s creek is all but impassable. Edited… looks like that area isn’t getting as much rain.

Haven't been in awhile but I hear the road itself has been re-done and is supposed to be pretty much smooth gravel with many campsites now blocked.

Would assume the water crossing would be a bit elevated though as you said.

When towards warwoman on 23 there is a campspot right by the Chattooga River where at least four of five trucks can park. But getting there you have to drive through an s shaped mud hole through trees. Then there is a hill climb that goes flat a little. Not enough to lever out your truck and then goes up further. Then it's just all downhill to get to the spot. It's difficult, hidden, but once you get get there it's awesome.

Sorry. I took a break from computers while I was off for the holidays. It's probably been 10+ years since I took a vacation and didn't take a computer. It was wonderful!

Sounds like a good decision, I hate bringing my computer on vacation. I went out Friday solo and did some exploring, then went out again with a buddy today to hit some of the good trails I found Friday. Lots of trails closing tomorrow until March 16th20211231_151452.jpg [IMG]
