    100%. I thought the episode was great except for that and the awkward truth telling at the end that came off like he knew all along or something. Very poorly written.

    My theory on how it ends.

    It will come out that Bran is actually Bran the builder, who the children of the forest turned into the Night King, he will warg back while waiting for the night king to come to him and get stuck starting the whole story in motoin. Jon will sacrifice himself to become the next night king (he is the prince who was promised) in order to save the living. Daenerys will become the queen of the 7 kingdoms and Sam will become the Arch Maester as a thank you for his sacrifices and for helping Jorah Mormont. The final minute of the series will be Sam as the Arch Maester as an old man writing in a book his story, he will close the book and ponder the title, write it down, then the camera will pan to the book cover "A Game of Thrones" and the screen will go black. The entire series was Sam recalling the story to paper to ensure it's history is not forgotten.

    Grey Worm sealed his fate when he imagined a happy-ever-after with Missandei. Arya just because she's begging for it. Mormont as the tear-jerker death.
