I think he’s saying the chrome cast will stream the movie from my phone to the tv. So maybe via Bluetooth?

My wife uses her cell phone as a hotspot to access the internet for work stuff on her lap top when we're on the road. Could do the same thing to stream the show tonight right?

The way a chrome cast works, at least the one I used to have, is that it has to be set up to the same WiFi that your phone (or device) is also connected to in order to throw it up on your TV

Uverse is a proprietary modem, which is why I refuse to be their customer. Running a gig modem right now on Spectrum while waiting for Google fiber, and I’m saving $5.99 a month by using my own $119 modem. You may want to rethink AT&T.
Still does - ChromeCast only works for devices within the same 192.168 network. It will not route. You can dual-home the phone - stream it over 4G and cast it over WiFi.

yeah as I was typing that out I was thinking I don't really know how "good" the connection is, she just uses it to access her business email and spreadsheets and what not. Might not be so great for streaming unless you have a really good 5G connection or something, will probably rack up the data too lol

Yea I went with them only because they were the only option in the town I moved to after Florence hit Wilmington. We are closing on a house Friday, when we move I’ll be switching back to Spectrum. I’ve got 8 accts with them for all of my business locations so I have some bargaining power haha

Streaming on the phone is going to happen. I’ll rewatch on tv tomorrow. I could hotspot the phone but that would require me driving to my office and getting my laptop (which ain’t gonna happen..) if I drive to the office I’m just gonna watch it there haha

Just be thankful you aren't trying to stream the Battle of Winterfell on your phone, that would've been tragic.

At least tonight's episode is going to be fought in the daylight, hopefully

If you were watching the battle of winterfell on your phone you at least could crank the brightness up to the max

true but on a screen that small that would be hard to see all the fast paced scenes (not like it was much easier even on TV)...my phone isn't as big as some of the newer ones though.

I was using that episode to push an OLED TV on her until I saw they burn in.

Technical note - chromecasts (casting from a supporting app, not just screen sharing) are just controlled by the phone/computer app, but they independently stream the cast from the server. Don't believe me - reboot your phone or whatever you're controlling it with.

And yeah, if your chromecast is connected to your phone hotspot, you can control the chromecast off of that phone as well.
