Gap between cab and truck bed

Hello all,

Just bought my third Tacoma, a 2018 TRD Off-Road.

Delivered today and noticed the gap between the truck cab and bed seems quite large compared to what I'm used to. No reported accidents, truck runs fine. I've obviously owned Tacoma's before but for some reason the gap seems quite large.

Anyone have any ideas? Just variation in how the bed was laid down on the frame?

Obviously a somewhat stupid question but I'm definitely curious.

I just googled "3rd gen Tacoma side shot" and it showed up. This place has just about every subject covered

 

I'm not very familiar with 3rd gens, I'm a lowly 2nd gen'er . I just looked at the 1st page of that thread......I wasn't going through all 24
