Recently replaced my OE air filter with a Wix filter (I know, I should have purchased OE...).

I noticed a gap in between the air box lid and the lower portion of the air box itself. Photos below. I cannot recall what it looked like before I replaced the air filter.

Is this gap normal? Anyone with a stock OE filter mind taking a photo of their air box lid to compare?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that's not normal. Is your filter upside down?

The OEM filter is like 20$ how much cheaper could this have been?

No. Pleats are faced down. Like they should be. Don't think the lid would even snap on if it were installed upside down...

Looks normal. Assuming OE filter is black and doesn't stick out like the orange.

    Thanks.

I guess I never noticed the gap with the OE filter because it was black on black. Seems like a very strange design.

    That's the way mine is.

I thought it was messed up too. I had to look around it a bit to make sure it was sealed. It is.

Normal. Gap has nothing to do with the seal between the filter and airbox.

TRD intake has the gap too. It’s very visible with the red filter.
