GAP insurance

    I see the argument "If you put enough down to cover depreciation, its not worth it". But if you total your new truck a few weeks after, you're still losing some of that down payment which could be thousands. So not sure I get the logic. GAP from my CU is $399 as opposed to possibly losing thousands.

    "Self insured" here. While I'm not wealthy, I can personally cover the risk that Gap insurance addresses. Of course, this does require that you have some cash around for such contingencies.

    All insurance involves a weighing of risk. My rule of thumb is that I insure high risk (probability of loss, cost of loss) items, but otherwise self-insure. So, no extended warranties, high deductibles, etc.

    Didn't know USAA insurance offered it. Whats it called. I just checked my options and can't find it. Did you finance it through USAA and that's where you bought it?

    I got it when I bought my truck, was $125 thru credit union that did my financing. Be silly NOT to get it for that cheap.

    I financed thru Toyota and have this same coverage thru USAA.Give them a call I can't remember how I added it.Added it online so you should be able to do it as well..
