Gapping/Splaying Bed Sidewalls Tacoma 2013 trd

I have a shell and don't have this issue and there are plenty of people running RTTs on bed bars that I would guess have a similar weight as a shell.

 

Wait so Total Chaos Bed Stiffeners help mitigate this issue? Forgive me, but I've never heard of this happening before although I've noticed the gap on my 2015 since it lets rain water in, although I don't know if it's gotten larger, or what it even looked like when I bought the truck new

 

Just keep an eye on it. Mine got pretty big so I used the total chaos stiffeners. It helped but the weight of the cap and off-roading did the bedsides in.

No spreading after several years with this cap on my truck. I’ve had two canoes on top of it. Total weight under 100 lbs so nothing really heavy up there. No offroading.

 

I think mine is VERY minimal compared to yours no that I'm looking at pictures side/side.
No continuous flexing/off-roading
Had the canopy on since day 1

If yours don't look like this...then your good.
Eventually they will turn to this if you offroad with a cap and weight up top.
