I went through the same thing with mint. Well not the excavator part, but the planting it and it taking over part. Your's sounds worse. The part of mine that spread into the front yard is actually kind of nice when I mow. Smells good.

I don't know about bamboo, but the mint I planted was in a planter, it escaped!

First batch of seeds came last week. Still have some more to order. It's that time of year for me to start planning and getting the seeds in so I cant start them inside starting in February with some stuff, but mostly March and April and then plant out the majority in mid to late May and early June, with cold weather stuff going out in late March and early April depending on how long winter hangs around. Get 90% of my seeds from the 4 company's catalogs that are in the picture because I have had good germination success with them. Order my onion plants from Dixondale Farms out of Texas, and get a few more seeds here and there.

Nice. I hadn't heard of Territorial Seed Company Looks like a good company.

I get most of the seeds I buy from Fedco They have a lot of heirloom seeds and great prices, especially if you want a large quantity of seeds, not just a little packet with ten seeds in it.

I used to get them from Gurney's but don't anymore because they are really pretty expensive.

I get probably 90% of my purchased seeds from Johnny's; I've mentioned them before. Primarily because they're based right up the road from where I live, so if they can grow it I should be able to as well, theoretically. The rest come from either Territorial or farmer's markets.
The exceptions are seed potatoes and garlic; I get those from the local Farmer's Union because they're ridiculously cheaper that way

Anyone grow Horseradish? i just ordered some to put in the garden. Looks like it's a pretty aggressive spreader so i'll need to keep it contained.

I got a bag of garlic from a guy about 8 years ago. He was on one of my other forums. He had a bumper crop that year and sent me a bunch (for Free). I've not bought garlic since then. i just replant some of what i grow each year. It might be my favorite thing to grow. It's so easy and plentiful.

That strategy would work great for us, but we end up eating it all

I planted some and its going on it second year, Its supposed to be hard to kill once established and spreads. but ours isnt spreading yet. Its in the corner of the garden so I can pretty much dig it out if need be.

I almost lost it all. We were in the process of building a house and had moved in with my In-laws. we didn't have a garden that year. I found 2 rogue garlic heads that were growing voluntarily at my partent's house (i had given my dad some). Planted it all and brought my stash back to life. Now i grow about 30 heads each year.

I did that with my chives; I stuck them in one corner of my triangle-shaped raised herb bed. That way when they start getting out of control I can just take a spade and cut them back into their corner.
On the other hand, now I've got a couple of chive patches growing in the ditch down the road from the house, because that's where I tossed them after I dug them out

I devote an entire 8x4 bed to JUST garlic every year, but we use at least a clove or two nearly every night with dinner, so we're always completely out by spring. I was planting it the fall before, but was having problems with rodents eating about half of them over the winter and started just planting them as soon as the ground thawed in the spring instead. Getting a much better yield, just a little later in the season.

Garden in general, really. But I'm running out of room in the yard; if I add any more I won't be able to get in there with the tractor. I'm planning on expanding some to the lower lot this spring, for some of the stuff that does okay in partial shade.
