So , do you think that pepper plant will be ok in this box,

    4748524F-1121-4C98-B88E-BAAB482E60A3.jpg

With a cherry tomato, eggplant, and some carrots?
I have a small tomato plant I’m waiting a little while longer before I remove it for someone. That won’t be there.

I have never grown eggplant but it looks like you can stake it up vertically. I vote go for it and let us know how it turns out ;)

I think going forward is an excellent idea as well. I extended the height of the garden one board taller. That should give me that additional room for roots, and I don’t think overcrowding will be in a problem in that bed . I have two tall tomato steaks and some pieces of wood that I can nail onto it to make a ladder and then I will run strings vertically I can put two bean plants on it . Will post later

It would definitely be better in that box. The tomato will probably invade it's space, but you can trim it back if it does.

How far apart are those beans spaced?
I have an extra bean plant that has started to crawl and I would like to put it on the trellis I’m going to make in one of those boxes the trellis is going to be about 5 feet tall

    Edit: 7”

Make sure it's a variety of "pole bean." If it's a "bush bean" any trellis would be a waste of time.

Good looking dirt. I'm gonna say that your squash plants are going to get seriously crowded. I dedicate at least 4'X4' space for my zucchini and yellow squash plants...and they use it all. I don't know if you can go vertical with those, never tried. I do my beans, peas, and cucumbers on pyramid trellises.

I called the Farmers exchange nearby where I live and asked if summer squash is in need of a trellis and he said no they are basically just a bush but I do see that they will take a lot of space if they do well against the squash vine borers.
I understand your point on the need for space last two years I got killed with the borers. They were so healthy at that point and then they just shit the bed. But I refuse to give up and I will win. Farmers exchange told me that cap ‘n Jack’s won’t take care of those borers or the cucumber beetles Because they could not justify with the FDA that it actually worked. And then he mentioned a product called bug kill two that is not so organic I think I will try it

Made a small raised bed with some pallets I found for free. Planted 2 tomatoes, a jalepeno, a sweet pepper, basil, zucchini, bush cucumbers that I'll trellis, and snap peas that I will also trellis in some way.

Check out the square foot gardening method. I use their guidance on spacing, and it has worked out fairly well for me.

    I will do that, thanks.
Next year I will make 2 12-14’ x 5’ x 2” boxes or remove several pines plus stumps and till a nice big garden. Financially the boxes are much cheaper.

2’ tall , not inches
