I put up a mason bee hive a few months ago. I didn't buy any bees for it.

My wife just said she saw some "flies" landing on it a couple days ago. I took a look and I have a few packed tubes.

    Yay! free (future) bees.

And here are some Gogi berries. They have a great taste to them.

The Marigolds are supposed to keep the little beetles (not sure what they are called) away from zucchini and cucumbers and it is working great so far. This is the first time I have tried it and I'm happy with the results as usually the beetles infest the zucc's.

The wells seem to hold the mulch in place and keep the weeds down. Although the crab grass don't care about none of that...

Oops.... went camping knew it was gonna be a little warm over the weekend... Decided to “add a little more water” to some of the plants.... Totally decimated the romaine lettuce because of too much water... little bummed because its was the best plants I had!! Damn!

Something else I noticed is the “4way dirt” I for from the local landscape place for my planters is sprouting shrooms. I have taken a few out and these grew this tall just over the weekend.489AA0EE-EB0A-4D17-8A6E-FA6E9839572B.jpg

They lay eggs that grow into larvae that bore into stem and stop water and nutrients from feeding plant.
I put yellow bowls out filled with water that is supposed to attract them into it and drown them.
Once I see this, I can treat the plants,. Eggs take 7-10 days to hatch, so it gives me a heads up.
Right now I have some great looking pumpkins zucchini and summer squash plants that take a beating from these and I’m not giving up.

Good luck with it. Don't let the little boogers win. How do you treat the plants?

Neem oil and diatomaceous powder .
Powder washes off though . I buried the stems , that is supposed to help.
Also picked this stuff up . It takes care of cucumber beetles that a got last year, in case I need it. Might be necessary

Ok I’m finally ready to show my screw up with over watering in preparation for heat that didn’t fully show up while I was gone for the weekend. 072C2133-CB88-44FD-A64F-77AC1466D84A.jpg

They should bounce back, if you cut back on the water for a few days.

I haven’t watered them since I got back because the soil was super moist.
