I messed up a few years back, and planted like 10 plants. I had so many I had to start doing something with them as I couldn’t give them away fast enough.

Dad liked everything so much, the least i can do is plant a few each year now and make stuff for him.

Yep, sometimes our gardens go crazy, and sometimes not so much. I am giving away quite a bit of produce this year. Next year, who knows...

I think they're red wasps. I think. They're about 1.5x bigger than our regular brown wasp. They were never aggressive, but I also didn't know there were as many as there were. I used a whole can of wasp and hornet spray and still had to step on two the next morning and one the day after that.

And apparently they don't lose they're stinger and can sting multiple times:
Typical paper wasps are relatively unaggressive, but red wasps have been known to be quite aggressive, delivering painful stings. They do not lose their stingers and are able to sting repeatedly.

glad I dont have them here, otherwise I'd get stung by them...closest thing here is a bald face hornet. they are about double the size of a yellow jacket and sting hurts. Ive only been stung once a long time ago, I still remember it.

    Redrum! Redrum! Redrum!

We don't get the red ones this far north, just Yellowjackets, bald-faced bastards, and paper wasps. Plus the usual bees (bumble, mason, squash, etc).

Ever seen a sand hornet (cicada killer)? I stepped on one when I was a kid, my little toe swelled up to the size of my big toe.

Went 4 for 4 at the local Ag Fair this weekend. Not bad considering I'm going up against a bunch of little blue-haired old ladies who've probably been canning for longer than I've been alive.
