What kind do you use? I'm hesitant to spray around where the veggies are gonna grow.

Off brand roundup. Can’t remember the name of it. I don’t spray to close to the veggies. I try to hoe it up close. It eventually gets out of control and I use the weedeater.

How much trouble are the chickens? We’ve been thinking about getting some.

Dependson your life style. If you like attending to a dog or cat closely then chickens can be a good addition, but if you like to get away for 2-4 days every weekend they are not for you. They are more like cats than dogs with respect to human to animal interaction. We have two that let my daughter hug them. You can get really into them and have auto feeders and doors etc. but longer than three days away I wouldn't recommend. In my experience. IMG_2787.jpg IMG_2788.jpg

We don't supply any extra light so during the winter we were only getting two eggs from 5 birds. Now that the daylight is longer we are getting 4-5 eggs from our five hens. We are incubating 9 eggs for this years flock, 12 quail... I'll keep you posted on the quail.

Glad I found this thread! Been wanting to start a garden since I bought my house and 5 acres. Well with everything going on this year decided it would be a good time to start this year. Waiting for my tiller to come in any minute and start busting up the ground. Might be a little late on a few things but looking forward to some fresh out of the garden veggies later this summer

Chickens are awesome, we have 6 laying, 2 in a transition coop + 6 more chicks in waiting, nothing beats the taste of fresh eggs

Plus, you can actually get eggs even when idiots are panic-shopping the stores bare.

That's our price as well, I did find someone on Facebook marketplace trying to charge $20 a dozen, don't know if anyone fell for it though.
