Yea, that's why I have been slower to save seeds from them, but I do like a challenge. I've done onions and they are the same way. Wasn't too hard. I just plant a few for seed stock in a corner of my greenhouse. The rest go out in the garden. I am gong to do onions again that way this year, and give carrots a try. The biggest pain about onions is the seeds don't keep very long, so I will have to raise a seed crop at least every two years. Carrot and beet seeds keep longer, so I will only have to do seed crops from them every 3 or 4 years.

Picked up a load of manure and worked it into the beds today. And of course their tractor was down so I had to use Ye Olde Manual Backhoe to load it. :muscleflexing:
Loaded roughly 1.5 yards and it squatted the truck a bit, but I still had better than 2 inches to go before I tickled the bump stops. One of the pleasures of owning a 2500

Got it all mixed into the beds, so of course the forecast is for rain/snow for the next couple of days
But, it'll be ready and waiting for me when things warm up properly.

Swapped out the soil in the planter on the porch, as well.

Oh, and also my pineapple appears to be about ready to harvest.

I actually started it in 2013, but even with keeping it indoors Maine isn't exactly the ideal environment for it so it's taken a while...

A little on the small side, unsurprisingly, but still delicious.

I remembered I went to use my push seeder last year and a bird flew out of it. It had eggs in it so I left it hanging where it was. Moved it inside so the nest can be removed before reuse.

If I was the owner I’d play it as the media telling us we have a food shortage and I was providing a solution to that by way of home gardens :D

Well finally got my tiller in this week and got a 40’x40’ spot ripped up. Got some potatoes, onions, and peas planted today. Definitely been a learning experience and looking forward to planting more in the coming weeks.

Ours are open. You select what you want online, then drive by and they load it in your truck.

Thank you, I'll look into that. Unfortunately we are in about 2006 here, so I kind of doubt it. Just 60 miles east (Rochester, NY), they live in the present. My brother had online pizza ordering at least 15 yrs ago. Our pizza places... "whats the internet?"

What's the easiest way to grow cherry tomatoes?

In a bucket, fabric bag or raised beds? I have room for a 4x4 bed.

I do them in containers on the deck and in the ground in the garden. My experience is the container grown ones need more watering as they dry out faster. Any of the ways you have described will work just fine although I have no experience with the bags but wouldn’t hesitate to grow them that way if needed.

For me, in a bed, but mostly because I already have the beds.
Buckets are second-most convenient because they're portable, but once the plant gets developed they can be top-heavy and tip over easily, so make sure you put a good heavy rock or two in the bottom. You'll also want to drill a couple of drain holes in the bottom, otherwise a heavy rain can drown your plants.

    Costco :cool::rofl:

If you have room for a 4x4 bed you’d be good for two cherry tomato plants, or one cherry and another variety tomato

I use raised bed style of gardening and follow the square foot gardening methods. LOL I have a small garden so each inch counts. I have had success growing cherry tomatoes in the bed but definitely need something to brace them with, a stick or support of some type.

Are you talking about those bags that you hang up and the tomato grows out of the bottom of it? I tried those years ago when they were trendy. The idea is that you don't have to stake them, the plant grows donward and garvity does the rest. They worked, but the plant grew in a U shape. It came out the bottom going down, but curved and then headed up. Then once it got very many tomatos on it the weight broke the plant. Had it kept growing down like is showed in the commercials, it would have been great, but reality didn't work that way.

Yeah, I did one of those upside down bag things as well, with the same result. Seems like it'd work ok for a dwarf variety but not for a normal plant.
