My wife could put any statue she wanted in our yard and I wouldn’t say a thing if she let me build a Santa Maria grill lol

Are those leeks in the center of the bed? If so, how did you get them so big so early in the season?

Damn. I thought it was leeks, and was hoping you could teach me some trick to getting them that big this early. I quit growing leeks bacause it takes them soooo long to grow, and it's hard to store them after you harvest them. I've never tried elephant garlic. I assume it's like other garlic in that it's best to plant the previous fall?

Ya we plant it and a hard neck variety in the fall. The one in the picture has been there for 3 or 4 years now, we don’t have the heart to dig it up lol

I’ve never grown leeks, I think people start them super early in a greenhouse tho. I used to have a book called “crocketts victory garden” where he had success growing leeks in Boston. I’ll try to find it

I have started them from seeds real early, like February, in my greenhouse. Still wasn't until fall before they were ready to harvest, and never did get very big. Stalks less than an inch across.

I haven't heard the term volunteer since my grandma said it when I was a kid.

Speaking of witch we have this mint that keeps volunteering in my wife's flower bed every year. It's from my hydroponics that must have gotten away.

I just took the bags off a branch of cherries to check them out and they are almost ready. Bags are to keep birds from eating them.
This is a Royal Raineer Cherry. It's a yellow/red cherry that is very sweet. Last year I had 1 cherry, this year I have about 20.
I just planted a Lappins Cherry next to it so I can get a lot more next year.

Mint is an escape artist. I planted some in one of my wife's flower beds about ten years ago. It escaped into the front yard. To this day when ever I mow that part of the yard it smells real nice.

Yeah, not enough fruit to share with the birds and squirrels. I have most of the clusters bagged for now.

We planted our garden a couple weeks ago then got over 10” of rain over the last two weeks. Some of it we had to start over. Just relisted some rows.

I'm having the opposite problem out here; we had snow and 2 inches of rain on Mother's Day weekend, and it's been hot and dry since then; no rain at all. I'm watering every day but the seedlings have all pretty much stalled. The lawns around here look like it's August already

If I had a flatter yard, I’d have a bigger garden! We usually have good luck with our tomatoes/zucchini/cucumbers/herbs. They’re looking good so far.

The Royal Raineer Cherries are ripe already. They are so good.
They are a lot sweeter than the typical red variety. I thought I had about 20 but actually had twice that.
There a few more still on the tree and I ate about 10.

Wife checked on her bees today. Looks like they are starting to cap honey. Should get some honey from them this year.
