I feel your pain. Some years here 90 days is a stretch. A few years ago we had a hard freeze on June 10.

Yep. June, July, August, and September, if you're lucky. Sometimes the frost hangs out into June, or shows up by surprise in September.

No more than clusters of 5 or 6 this year. :D Or so I’m told.

Last week I was hustlin’ plants into the garage & coverin’ already planted ones with sheets. 2 degrees of frost that night. 3 days later it’s 92. I’ll never figure it out. :tinfoilhat:

20200607_200302.jpgI've been wanting to do a green house ever since my grandfather had one when I was a kid and this past weekend my dream has started to come to fruition. It took about a week of hard labor preparing an overgrown area of my yard, building the green house and the foundation and bringing in about a yard of dirt. So far I'm really happy with it. It was a lot of work this year but in the future all the hard work is done. This is a great thread for info and I love what a lot of you guys have done with your gardens. It's a lot of work but has a nice reward come picking time.

I think we got frost once here a few years ago...
Normally can keep the garden going all year round, leafy greens and carrots in winter and start summer garden in March, can get 2-3 rotations out of the summer garden ending in October. I had a few tomatoes still producing in November last year

I did a few tweeks to my green house and garden and finally finished tonight. Now I just have to water and enjoy. Thanks for all the Information and inspiration on here. You guys are doing some amazing and beautiful things with your gardens and I'm really impressed. My Donkey was really good to me, brought in over 2 yards of dirt, a green house, all the lumber , rocks etc and didn't miss a beat. A quick rinse of the bed and she ready for a night on the town. Good luck to everyone on there gardens this year.:hattip::fistbump:20200612_204137.jpg 20200612_204100.jpg 20200612_203240.jpg

I don’t know how tall they are , but I think I can get one plant on each one and get two plant in one box . Cukes and beans aren’t much more than seedlings now as I purposely started them late and it gives me time to decide.. Picked up a bale of straw For the beds. Going to the Lowes nearby to find some 1”x1” x8’ stakes and make a couple of fan trellises. They want upwards of $20 -$25 for a 6 footer. I’ll make my own, thanks . Those 1 inch stakes ought to be flexible enough to make it into a fan shaped Trellis first my pole beans

Does anybody use straw in their gardens? Seems like a pain PITA especially when I use a dry fertilizer ( tomato tone). I would have to move the straw out of the way to apply. Thoughts?
