Just cultivated the garden, supposed to rain first of the week.

 

I don’t but it may help keep the moisture in

 

I've used straw but prefer dried grass clippings. I would think the fertilizer could be applied to the top and watered through.

 

And the weeds down. I wouldn't even garden without mulch. Too much work to keep weeded.

 

I tried it once and got tons of wheat growing up in it. Must not have been threshed out very good.

 

can anyone relate to this? (not me, unless the Mrs. kills my veggie garden off while I'm on travel)

 

I would ask why you waited until June, but the seeds planted March 31st have produced the slowest growing jalapeño plants I've ever had. The biggest are only about 3" tall now.

Very sad my habanero seeds seem to be a huge bust this year (for the first time in 6-7 years). Guess I'll have to buy plants or hope for "volunteers."

 

It was cold here and got it in late, just replanted some seeds 2 weeks ago. Usually we’re getting vegetables by now.

 

We bought some pepper and mater plants last week. The house is on the market as of yesterday with showings today. I guess we are going to plant them for the new owners.

Wow very nice. Is that lettuce in that one bed and if so what kind? I'm trying several different kinds of lettuces for the first time. Yours look amazing , any tips? I've heard Epsom salts can help certain veggies grow really good.

 

Screened topsoil and Holly Tone veg/flower fertilizer

 

You're supposed to open the bales up a week or so before you need it, so the birds can eat the seeds.

 

I have also heard the epsom salt trick but have yet to try it

We got an inch and 6/10ths of rain the last two days.

 

Fruit trees are doing well.

4-in-1 apple. 2 types are growing, two are just flowering.



Persimmon is loaded. My wife will have plenty. Over 100.



Fruit salad. 2 peach, nectarine, plumb and apricot.

all but apricot are growing. (keeping nets on them to keep the birds from pecking.









These trees are all three years or younger so any fruit is good fruit.

 

Around 3” of rain this week, another storm came through this evening.
