We downsized our garden to a half a tote and a galvanized tub this year. Squash, tomato, and peppers.

 

Before the rain the past weekend, my twin totes were empty too. And I was watering every day. Never had to water this early in the season; doesn't bode well for what August will look like

 

Got 4 empty rain barrels & now this.

It's never enough until the lakes fill up, but it's been like this almost 2 weeks. "Moderation" they say.....

 

We moved into a new place at the beginning of the year with a holly tree out front. Mulched all the landscaping in early spring but had to stay away from the holly for a while because it was surrounded by bees from sunup to sundown for a solid week. Apparently this is not unique based on your post. What’s the deal??

Also, beautiful landscaping you have there.

 

My mom puts nets over them to keep the birds off. Works great. She uses clothes pins to keep the netting exactly where she wants it to go.

 

Just to add to the posts about water, or lack there of, I had to water my cold weather crops in April multiple times this year for the first time I can ever remember. We’ve had some rain now but damn I hope this summer doesn’t dry up.

 

Thank you. Bees love those Holly flowers. They usually swarm mine. I'm not sure why they didn't visit this year. It could be related to the historic cold temps we had this winter.

 

Maters and peppers are off to a great start and the cukes and zukes planted from seed are emerging. We've been blessed with lots of rain.

I found some rabbit fur near the border of the garden . Found a spot where it was squeezing under the fence .I fixed it so it will need to find another spot to get in
