Gardening Thread- Show me your gardens!

Relocate them to my freezer! I understand, there are more deer inside the city limits here than there are outside them. The deer have no hunting pressure, they have a buffet of shrubs/flowers/gardens, and act like they own the place!

 

The city has no other choice but to relocate them to the reservation. All the small wooded are turning to someone new home. Small city, over populated.

At one point there was too many deer in the city before the relocated program started. The deer was killed and the meat was donated to low income families.

 

I planted about 30 greens beans and only had 6 or 7 germinate. I even soaked them overnight before planting. They are the bush variety. Seems like the pole variety do better for me.

 

Outdoor/barn cat is my best anti-squirrel weapon. Any rabbits that make it past the fence, get the 22LR medicine.

Mud dauber?
They are good insects to have around. Don't sting you unless they have no choice, they clean up other harmful insects around the garden and house. Just build dirt nests and lay eggs in them.

 

Nope! This is too wide, I’ll tear it down tomorrow and see what’s inside.

 

They can make multiple rows if there are more than one mud dauber and they catch multiple insects. They generally like to stay near dark warm surfaces, like my grill cover for instance. They build the nest just for laying eggs with a host for their larvae to feed on. Generally, the nest will be somewhere not readily visible, like under a porch, car, or on a brick surface. Your picture seems to match a mud dauber nest. Likely insects that have been placed in there is what you will find.

 

Our mud dauber nests are maybe 5/8”-3/4” wide and vertical, this thing is closer to 2” wide and horizontal.

 

You could be correct, that it’s something else. Seems like what I described, though. I’m curious to learn what you find when you do tear it down.
