Are you pickling okra?

 

They'll take off I bet. Mine get 7 foot tall. The challenge is picking them before they get too big they grow so fast and they're really camouflaged well so hard to see.

 

I want to say they like sandy soil.

 

Yeah, I pickle them with a hot red pepper or two and they're really good. Better than cucumber pickles IMO and much easier to get crisp.

 

Nice, we make spicy dills like that also, they are good.

 

Every year I tell myself I’m going pickle some cucumbers or beans but then I never actually do it. I eat them before I get the chance lol

 

We have a bunch little ones right now, if they do good we are going to have a ton.

 

Maybe cider. Fruit wines perhaps. Grape wine? Probably not. I will maybe plant some eating grapes. Varieties that do well here.

Moonshine? A still would be a fun project!

 

Never heard of them. Are the peppers similar to hot peppers without the kick?

 

The thing that keeps on turning my water on for no reason.

 

If any available I probably find it at the local farmers market.

I got the Durian from my friend. When open I can't go 10ft near it without almost puking. Taste is the worst thing I tried, never again.

 

Are the lids 2 piece? I found 2 piece lids in the cabinets and small jam jars.

 

Wine making with grapes is big here.

Moonshine will burn when urinating.

gonna find out soon with the marconi peppers, if you ever had "chile relleno" at mexican place it was a poblano.

yes 2 piece, some say you can store without the rings but if you bump the lid it can break the seal. Usually we just leave rings on for protection and seems to keep item sealed properly even if its all in our minds.

 

The lids should be new but the rings can be reused. You should throw the lids away after using.

 

Some say you can reuse but we dont, if it was a SHTF scenario maybe but prob have more pressing things to worry about if that happened

I've heard both too and I'm no canning authority. The first time I pickled pretty sure I used old lids and then read not to later. If you Google the subject it will tell you not to reuse and the internet is never wrong .

Like you said, lids are cheap and why take the chance.
