Nice! We are behind you a month at least...frost/freeze warning tonight

 

Yeah we can't even plant anything needing warmth yet!

Worked my ass off all am. May take photos eventually

 

Bought two elderberry bushes and another plum tree and a yellow rhodie.

 

I planted 2 this year also

 

I read two different varieties needed for pollination. Will tolerate a lot but not dry roots. Will thrive in rich soil.

 

Yep i read that also about 2 varieties. I got 2 different ones

 

York and Nova

 

I got ranch and york

 

I think they grow to a decent size

 

Yep, ive only seen them in wild. These will be the first ive planted

 

So i put a gutter on the greehouse to collect rain water. I was thinking it would take a long time to fill up. But in 3 storms its filled a 250 gal tank up about halfway. We have 2 tanks and i had one set up on a shed already. Wife is using that one to water plants in greenhouse.

If i see another tank or 2 I might pick them up if cheap. Rainwater seems to be better than the city water for obvious reasons.

 

I added 3 different Blackberry and 1 Raspberry bushes to my patch this year.

 

Set them up in a series to feed from the same downspout. Connect via 1" pipes on the top. Use 2 for heavier rains. Once one tank fills up, water goes into the other and so on. Put an oveflow pipe on the last tank to direct the extra water.

 

What fitting are you using to connect the hose to tanks?

 

In the first pic, the leftmost tank was the receiving tank, later I moved it to the middle one. All 3 still fill up. 4 block height is enough to gravity water 50 feet away.

 

I avoided mowing these. Wild muscadine.. grape I dont know if they will do anything but only female plants produce fruit. Vines have a bunch of clusters. Hopefully i can keep bugs off them
