Gamo Bone collecter bullwhisper air rifle. Takes out squirrels no problem.
My barn cat does a good job hunting them, but sometimes he needs a little help.

It’s a constant battle here with critters. No shortage of them. I caught a group of 8-9 crows flat footed this week one morning. Stepped around the garage with my 12 gauge, dropped two and clipped the third as he left range. Had grabbed my duck gun so was plugged to 3 shots. Damned satisfying way to start the day. Hung them on my tomato cages for a few days to make the statement stick.

And still getting a few blueberries, about a pint this morn but they are close to playing out. Garden winding down some too. Still tomatoes and okra. Squash and zucchini playing out. Beans appear that they make another batch if we keep getting rain but half the bushes have died out. Gonna watch another week or so and may just plow them in.IMG_1855.jpg

Is it me, or does it seem like fall weather is here?

Anybody have a favorite pepper jam recipe you'd like to share? I took my first stab at some jam earlier this week and was pleasantly surprised how great it turned out. I just used some red jalapenos, red bell pepper, green apple, sugar, and vinegar. I think if anything, I used a little much vinegar, but would be curious to see if anyone else adds/subtracts some ingredients to make it even better

    Love it!

Thats what i miss about living up north, change of seasons. been 40 years down here. Closest cool weather here is Dec through feb, able to grow lettuce under shade cloth, and the bigger tomatoes do alright.

Not much of a garden this year, just some kale and chard, one row of red potatoes. Raspberries for summer are done, come on late summer raspberries. All volunteer sunflowers. Neighbor gave me one tomato plant, too late into the season.

More jam this week. Nees to clean, pull all the seeds out and freeze, till we pick enough for a double batch.

They look like it, but it is rosehips. Fruit of the orginal rose, known as Sitka rose or roza rigoza (sp?). Grows from Alaska to GA, now. :)
