I am enjoying my last pint jar of red gooseberry jam. So there is that. That bush is a delicious delight from heaven and a thorny devil from hell.

My blueberries are covered this year with blooms. Should be a good year.
Next couple of weeks will be all about taking care of the transplanted trees, making sure they root properly.

Need to start saving for an Amish built greenhouse next. We could really use one.

Not sure ,to be honest, have not tested in a year. We've been dumping coffee grounds at the base all winter, though.

Ms. Sue if you want organic and safe for the pups you can mix 1 gal of 5% vinegar ( or stronger) with a cup of salt and 2 tablespoons of dawn dish soap in a sprayer and spray directly on the weed. Best when sunny and warm ish. It will kill anything so be careful what you spray.

Well depending on the type of weeds you are dealing with that could be a lot of spot spraying. But might be worth the time and effort. On several of my residential properties I had pretty good luck with a fertilizer maintenance program that started in the fall with an application of dolomite lime (careful to apply evenly to avoid bright green spreader lines) and then continued through the year with an application of high nitrogen and then culminating with an application of commercial weed and feed as needed as spring turned to summer. Healthy lawn minimizes weed growth. Soil Ph plays an important role in this. Chelated iron will also work. It’s a liquid application you can find info on YouTube or online. Broadleaf weeds love to absorb iron and will by nature over dose (turn black and die) on it whereas grass will only take in what it needs. (There are some limits to this though and you don’t want to over treat as it will affect your soil ph). I’ve used Scott products with success on some of my properties where they provided materials. I prefer 1/2 dosing more frequently than full dose applications when possible. If you want chemical application (herbicide) Tri Mec or 2 4 D will kill broadleaf weeds but not the grass. Crossbow is a 2 4 D product that was used to kill clover in sheep grazing pastures and is safe after 24 hours. But like any herbicide it easy to over apply and then bad juju happens. I have always steered clear of round up products ( just my opinion) but they do have an in lawn herbicide. Masks, gloves, respirators and a surfactant or sticker is recommended. I did not use much herbicide. When I did it was for blackberries because it killed plants dead to the roots. I could reclaim an entire yard for less than a gallon of solution which is a 1/4 cup of chemical. So three options to try. Hope that helps.

Got my garden plot turned but holding off planting till mid April. Took forever for it to get dry enough to turn.
Replaced corner posts and reworked the electric fence this weekend.

Beginning to put a few things in the ground, the Greenhouse was definitely nice to have this year for storing some dormant plants and getting an early start with a lot of other stuff.

My front bed, so far I’ve got some potatoes and bush peas in it that just started to sprout, but soon it’ll mostly be corn, beans, and pumpkins.
