Possums and raccoons work on ours. I set a couple live traps out there and remove more than a few each season. Hornets like the figs too.

Here possums and racoons come for the cat food we have out for our barn cats. Tractor supply live traps work great.

All heat and no rain this year in Pensacola, my cherry tomatoes are so thin and cucumbers had no chance. Only acceptable harvests have been the melons; one cantaloupe per plant and two watermelons per. I even watered every 2-3 days but wasn't enough. I have a single pepper and zucchini, three plants of each.
I put in a water barrel setup, has worked wonders. I put in a shallow well last year and was tired of pumping by June haha
First year I didn't use geotextile and won't do again... I'm over pulling weeds

    Some red onions.

SoCal harvest for this year. We got way more peaches and cherries than the pics but pretty stoked.
Biggest russet we grew to date.

7 more quarts green beans. Still got more on the way.

Tried planting another row 2 times and only had 2 plants pop up.

The heat and dry is upon us, abnormal rain this year that was welcome. Here anyway, not so much elsewhere. I pull the maters as they set some color now. Otherwise I gamble on insects getting them. 19 oz black krim, purple maters are my tastebud favorites .20250728_111732.jpg

Coleslaw, the recipe can be gotten from yt, Homesteading with the Zimmerman's, aka Ruthann. Very good channel for the canner in the house. And chicken lol that ventured into the garden. 20250728_133546.jpg 20250728_133639.jpg

Still only one lonely flower :pout:

A bonus though. Got a bird feeder across from the hydrangeas that the birds go nuts for. Mostly sunflower seeds. Well looks like I got a little bonus sunflowers growing

Does it look horrible and out of place? Yes. Am I seeing what happens? Also yes
